Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So, apparently Nusa has rejected Chavs and is open to joining us. We're also looking to sign Gallagher, who is one of Chelsea's captains.
Are we finally a more attractive prospect than the blue scum?
1000% we are right this instant a much more attractive proposition than them. Despite starting to sell off in the summer their squad is still hideously bloated with £50m+ players occupying every position and a bunch of £20-30m players backing them up, with this many sunk costs and new players coming into the side the hierarchy right now is going to be largely ordered on the player's transfer fee rather than ability, as Boehly has a bunch of very expensive investments to try to get some talent out of or write off hundreds of millions in losses. Why would Nusa choose to join a side with the £78m Mudryk and £30m Madueke in front of him, they're both young, Madueke is liked by the Chav fanbase and will prob end up the starter but they desperately have to keep playing Mudryk or they will have to write off £50-60m on him. Add in that most of these guys are on 7 and 8 year deals, where's the pathway to the first team?

Heavy doubt there will be any Saudi interest for him; he's not very good and also has no name recognition value.

Good, you have this forum then huh?
He clearly has connections, so try an appreciate it instead. He is just passing on info in good faith.
Stop acting like a child and take it for what it is or scroll away - applies to all of you.
You're sitting in this thread every day anyway so you're obviously craving it

He did also say we were sending Devine to Norwich as part of a deal for Jonathan Rowe.... 5 minutes before Devine was confirmed to Plymouth.

We're in the lead with Man Utd just behind us. The difference is we can do it this window, hence the loan back. Man Utd and others can't because they're shitting themselves over FFP. The summer might be different. Seems like we're taking advantage of it, which is lovely to see.

Disagree. After 30 June FFP gets worse for the other “Big Six” because
1. 2020/2021 drops off the 3 year rolling FFP requirement. Pretty sure that was the last year of “Covid-relief” where by clubs got a free pass for operating at a substantial loss
2. There are restrictions coming in on the amount of player costs (transfer fees, agents fees and wages) to revenue. Currently it is 90%. I think (but could be wrong) it drops to 80% for 2024/2025. Then later it drops to 70%

so there isn’t going to suddenly be a lot of the other Big 6 with lots of FFP leeway (except the bin dippers) in the summer.

IMO transfer fees are going to drop like a stone in the summer. We would be better doing loan deals and see the whole sh**storm play out.

€30m sounds high for Nusa against that backdrop.

£30m for Nusa is not 'high' now though and easily affordable for us, and this is almost certainly our best chance to get him. Bloke is going to be brilliant so fuck waiting - pay the money, loan him back for the remainder of the season, job's a good 'un.

An example, Gift Orban who we were quoted in the summer being interested in at €30m has just moved to France for €12m. To be fair, his early season form this year has been a bit meh.

I do not think the prices will drop as much as you think. The fact is there is about to be a massive boost to revenues of Premier League Clubs because All non Saturday 3:00PM Games are now on TV. Maybe 2025/26 they will drop and that is a big maybe.

Fuckin hell! We're not messing about. Going to have to push to get this done quick I feel as lots of other teams will be sniffing around now. But it's smart - going for it while others are hamstrung by FFP.

One is genuninely one of the hottest prospects in European Football and one was perceived even at the time to be on a hot streak. I think you pay the potential difference now to secure his signature. I also don't think the price will fluctuate as much every time as Gift Orbans form dropped off a cliff.

If you wait until the summer to save lets say conservatively they wanted €10m less and only €20m - You'd also have to compete against every other club who would have got their finances/squads in better shape by then too and we'd likely not get the player.
