Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I was browsing a villa forum to see what they're saying, and boy do they hate us. Fucking hell.

I went a little further into the rabbithole, reading from a few years back when they were in the championship, and they were still frothing at the mouth back then. Just constant insults, looking down on us, and repeating how Dele and Kane should/would leave, and how Poch could go real madrid, and how horrible we are etc.

I was honestly taken aback. Have a look for yourself.

It's funny how so many fans see us as genuine rivals.

When did villa fans get so big for their boots? One ok season where they get conference league, a competition we would rather not be in at all and they are all going on saying they are a bigger club than Spurs.

A lot seem to think Spurs have never won any trophies ever. It's bizarre
Well that's the narrative isn't it? Why bother with facts, its the social media way!!
No Problem Reaction GIF

Think we were the 4th most successful club in England when it comes to trophys, until Chelski and City started/were allowed buying theirs!!

Sad day for football

7 league titles and a European cup amongst others suggests they have a rich history at least.

Not getting into what makes a “big” club but they are up there on past success. Let’s be honest, past success is all we have at the moment

The question is why???

We're the little brother of the top 6, many fans think that we don't deserve to be in there and that they can catch us or take us out of it.

Also I noticed that when Prem clubs have rivals who aren't in the same league as them they want to attach themselves to a rivalry to feel a sense of belonging and tribalism.

Villa's main rivals are Birmingham - Championship
West Ham's - Millwall - Championship
Southampton when their fans were getting at us - Portsmouth were in League 1/Championship
Chelsea's rivals are meant to be Fulham and QPR but they're either too nice or have mainly been in the Championship
Leicester - don't really have any deadly rivals, just local rivals - Forest/Derby/Coventry but none from the same City.

Guarantee you that if their rivals were on a level footing they wouldn't give much of a toss about us.

Don't see them hate any other club outside the "top6"!!!

They didn't hate Leicester, and i don't see them hate Villa, Brighton, or Newcastle now!

Nah, this is something else!

Great run, not great side. Nothing special at all
They are elite on the ball, but other than that the only difference between them and us is that they manage to get that one goal and don't have the brain farts that have cost us so dearly.

Refs also let them hack people down, which we couldn't even dream of.

Spot on. For the likes of Villa, Newcastle, Leeds etc. it's pure crab bucket mentality. They feel we should be like them, we were like them a decade ago and a half ago. It drives them insane that we've left them behind and become superior to them and we have no right to be. They wish it was them.

For the small clubs, again spot on. They'd obviously never dream of comparing themselves against the other big 6 clubs, we're still "small" enough for them to feel they can banter us and talk down to us, while still big enough for them to feel like it's a significant rivalry.

The irony is that the creation of the Top 6 wasn't even our fault, it only came about when Chelsea and Utd had down seasons and City started to win regularly and we had those season under Poch where we challenged for the league, the media couldn't bare two of their darlings out of the limelight and somehow, somewhere this Top 6 thing was being banded about.

Yup, another underrated factor in the hate towards us is the fact that we have 3 historic rivals with large fanbases which pump out an insane amount of anti-Spurs content.

Any kind of anti-Spurs narrative gets immensely boosted in the early stages, and things that wouldn't be such a big deal become massive news.

IMO, it also makes our season tougher than most cos we have 6 games a season where the opposition is ready to die on the pitch to beat us. Unfortunately, we don't have the same attitude when we face them.
