Interesting that our expected threat from carriers is below that of several sides below us in the table. Definitely reinforces what many of us keep saying about needing better 1v1 wide forwards.

Got a link to where this chart came from?

Is Vicario a better goalkeeper in your opinion than Mignolet was when Klopp took over at Liverpool?

(If yes)

Do you think Vicario is only a better goalkeeper because of Ange?
As it stands no he's not the automatic upgrade on the bloke with 30 odd caps for his country. He's not in the totality of his career better that the World Cup winning player he's replaced. That's why I'd not be silly enough to make such an empty headed comparison and neither would Pitt-Brooke if he didn't have a column to write and an abiding understanding of the bait then hook socials engagement that gets clicks. What's the expression form is temporary and class permanent.

Lloris was fucking dreadful by the time Vicario arrived. As in actively losing us points and we had shit-offs between him and Forster.

Amazing career, great in his prime, dreadful by the end.

8th first season. Cup finals aren’t winning things or Poch would still be here,

4th the season after but took 3 seasons to win a trophy.

Was definitely signed mid-way through a season. His first full season with transfers he finished fourth.

Cup performance matters. People always say ‘he finished fourth/fifth’ w/e as if the season only includes a league.

How teams perform in all competitions I wanna know about. For example although Arteta’s having a great season, if Woolwich go out of the CL then it’ll be a big knock for the season to only do well in one competition..

Losing 2 finals and finishing 8th wouldn’t make me happier. Neither would 4th and no titles the year after.

I’m happy with Ange because I can see what he’s trying to do and I believe him when he speaks about getting there.

I don’t know how you judge progress if not by performances in competitions. Which usually involves a bit of losing but creeping closer before you eventually win.

I can see what a lot of managers want to do and believe them. Doesn’t mean I’d want them here tbh.

My current faith in Ange is based on obvious improvements in league performance and style.

So? Are they upgrades or not? Not what Neville said, not what ANYONE said, are these players better footballers than the ones available to the previous coach?

The answer is yes, yes they are. Vicario has been much better than last seasons version of Lloris. Not because Ange is some wonder coach but because he’s better at goalkeeping.

The Porro of this season is much, much better than the Porro of last season. The Sarr of this season is also better. The Romero of this season is much more composed and reliable. The Richy of this season is night and day. The Biss of this season... Etc etc.

These are all players who were available to the previous coach, which suggests that, yes, there is some pretty impressive coaching going on. Unless these players all just miraculously improved... randomly?

Also, you speak about people wanting to have it both ways, yet here you are banging on about how great Postecoglou's squad is, however as soon as the subject of Levy or ENIC comes up, no doubt that'll flip to the managers not having been backed and most of the players not being good enough. Curious.

Hmmm .. well I mean Conte had us fourth and lots of players improving first season. The Biss of this season? Uh.

The squad of this season isn’t ‘great’, the bar is just higher than the squad Klopp took over at Liverpool. Loads of work still needs to be done on the team. The blaming of your lover boys will come when we require that next step to be made and they don’t do it.

They’re very good at building teams just good enough to break the top 4 (or is it five, now?) and not doing much beyond.
