Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Son isn’t a striker no matter how many times Ange or fans try and convince themselves he is. He’ll do a job there because he’s an honest player but I bet he hates it. It negates most of Son’s biggest goal scoring threats. Eg. Cutting in from the wing and curling a shot into the far corner or peeling off from the side onto a through ball from central areas to use his pace and great finishing ability. Both Conte and now Ange seem hell bent on not using him correctly. Hopefully if Richy is back fit for the remaining games he will come good again playing on the left. In fact, I bet he does.
Same applies to poor use of our fullbacks. Udogie and Porro are fast and Porro especially has a great cross in his armoury but this playoung of them as inverted fullbacks is not getting the best out of them.

So how does he miraculously resolve it 2nd season? Especially if you buy more players who then need to integrated? Surely what resolution he comes up with in 2nd season he could come up with now. I’m sure he knows what to do now unless it hits him like lightening bolt in the close season. Anyway why can’t work on the style of play as he is doing and get the defence coach to sort out set pieces. It’s not as if one affects the other. Set pieces are from a dead ball. Also why can’t we keep son and say bj further out at corners meaning oppo have keep at least 3 players back. It’s not as if either are gonna win headers.
We haven’t got a specialist defence coach afaik ,Jedinak does it and Mason the attacking.

quite interesting that he's outright said he expects to be in a title race this time next year. I'm trying to remember if any of our recent previous managers outright said similar. I know Conte literally laughed it off and said no.
Poch and mourinho i feel danced around it with riddles.

Coming out and saying it public must put a little pressure on the club to bring in the calbre of players to be in the mix for the title this time in 12 months.
Timo Werner made permanent, and some more cheeky frees/final year deals wont cut it.

Werner out for the rest of the season should hopefully put paid to that.

Must be putting pressure on Levy with a comment like that (Although I haven’t seen it for context). I wonder if already he’s getting signs he isn’t going to get what he wants this summer?

history tells us he most likely wont, will eventually get grumpy and the relationship will break down resulting in sacking when there's another bumpy patch like this one

Yes have seen that debate here. It has merit but my view is that EPL is still a tougher challenge for a manager:

There are 19 other clubs for a start, which is more than any of those other leagues. So even if the average EPL manager was the same standard as average SPL/JL/AL/NSL then it's tougher.

But then there's that the average manager salary in the EPL is around five times that of SPL/JL/AL which is likely to lift the average standard.

So I reckon it's a bigger challenge but I'm backing Ange to rise to it.

Agree with you 99%, except for :

I agree that EPL is one of the top competitions, but what everyone seems to be missing is that it is all RELATIVE.

If you are coaching in one of these lesser Leagues, then compared to EPL, you have worse players, less money etc.

BUT, all the other teams in that league are in the same boat.
So if you can devise how to win in THAT LEAGUE, then you're a good coach.

In his second year, Ange has won titles at South Melbourne, Brisbane, Yokohama and Celtic.

Who's to say he won't do the same here?

Relativity

You’re a madman.

If you think Spurs winning the Premier league is any way relative to the leagues you’ve just mentioned you need to be sectioned.

Seriously. Look at what you are typing!!

Celtic. Playing in a two horse league.
Spurs. So far away from City it’s frightening.

What the fuck is relative about Spurs and Celtic?? They have won more titles in their history than Liverpool and United and City combined. (I think).

If we win the league next year I will change my name by deed poll to Angelos Aussie Adorer. Or Triple A to my friends.

When we don’t I expect all the fools on here expecting a premier league win to address me as Sir Knows What The Fuck he is Talking About

Ange's comments about Romero are very telling. He wants people to be calm and courageous in the face of our white knuckle football. Also not reacting to intimidation like Vicario sometimes does. That will be a long term project and he still needs new players who can do that. He's put this whole team under a stress test, hence the multiple injuries. We will need a couple of seasons to see if this experiment works.

Missing out on CL football will stop any big outlay so if he plans to make any sort of title challenge (even if it's a minor one) he has to get it.

even when we were in the CL season after season we made no big outlays, just that one time post final with ndomble. Generally means nothing with this club.

being out of the CL for quite a stretch didnt really stop arse from spending big money on a rapist, Pepe, ben white, odegaard, jesus etc.
i wont let levy's mind tricks work on me, we'll see if the club has a crumb of ambition this summer. 2nd manager in a row who's putting pressure on them to win the big things though im sure Ange isnt as biting as Conte

Manager doesnt get what he wants in the summer, clearly disallusioned and gets the arse from the start of the season, a few iffy results, crowd starts to get on Levys back, sacked in November, new saviour comes in and does well for a bit, doesnt get what he wants in the summer.........We've all seen this film before.

You're missing my point about relativity.

I wasn't comparing Spurs to Celtic.

I was comparing the different LEAGUES and the available resources.

The bloke has gone to four different leagues and won silverware in his second year with them. How did he do that?

By assessing what teams he is up against and devising a system to beat them.

Why can't he do the same here?

I'll look forward to referring to you as AAA next season. 😁
