Spurs v Man City

The match where ancient Fighting Cock alliances are shattered, and new ones formed

We struggled to pump an already relegated Burnley

Regardless of if we want to win or not, Man City will beat us unless something ridiculous happens like their keeper getting sent off, and even then id still think they'd beat us

because, quite simply, they are better at football

In recent years,maybe(2000 onwards) .But not in the past.
That's the why VDV(the original one) was so liked. He truly got it.
Yeah I think it's probably connected to Woolwich being so much more successful than us over the 90s/early 2000s and it instilled a feeling of superiority within the club.

So even in more recent history, when we've been the better side, that ethos remained and was translated to their inferior players who still felt their rightful place was above us and always tended to showed up in derbies.

weve had CL football a decent amount of times over the last 8 years and its only got us to this point now... our squad is better suited to europa anyway. our first 11 isnt even good enough for CL let alone the squad.

we should actually be looking to win the europa. it should be an realistic achievement.
We won't win the ropey league.
All we'll do is struggle all season with Thursday/Sunday fixtures until we innevitably go out and have nothing, not even decent prize money.

Alot of fans want Ange backed. He ain't getting backed with Ropey league money.

This is it.

We should all want us to win.
We won't, so it's irrelevant.

We might not win the Europa but at least it'll give us a chance to play some of our academy.

If even one of them comes good that'd be worth its weight in gold, and arguably more than an extra 50m of CL money. Imagine Bergvall, Donley, Lankshear, Phillips, Hall, Dorrington, Moore & co getting minutes in Europe and working their way into the first team, what could be more satisfying as a fan.

Conversely if we're in the CL you know Ange is just playing his first team 3 times a week; everyone's getting injured and it'll completely fuck our domestic season like it did with Newcastle and United this year.

Would absolutely love it if Bissouma, when on a yellow, does another dive for a second yellow. What elite shithousery to those Gooner scumbags that would be!!

I like this approach because it means City will tear us to pieces on the counter and win comfortably, so that lot down the road lose the league.

Our good record against them in recent years has been down to Conte/Jose park the bus and counter tactics. The 3-3 this season was a peak "catching City before they have got into gear" result. If Ange sticks to his guns this could get messy for us.

Big Nunzio Esporito el es Santos also managed to get a win with pure terrorball.

I don't expect the players want to lose against City do I have no idea why you're conflating the fans' feelings with the players?
For me, they're conflated because I feel at one with the team. My mind is with the players for every moment they are on the pitch. It's not a spectator sport for me. It's full mental immersion.

Maybe I'm the world's first Zen football fan but I do firmly believe that purity of mind (or lack thereof) has an effect on what happens on the pitch. From the fan listening on the radio to the players that are out there. This is why I feel so concerned about the ramifications of wanting the team to lose.

Personally, I'll never forgive the bastards if they suddenly show up and put in a winning display after turgid, dogshit performances of late, especially against the Woolwich at home!

I've got a ticket for the game but, like a fair few I imagine, I'm not going as too awkward.

What are the best drugs to achieve this state of mind you function on??

I want some.

Europa league would be very useful revenue and we have a decent chance if we believe we are two or three players away from a good team. I actually think we've suffered having too few games this season. In particular the fringe players are incredibly short on minutes when they do come on.

Still got more chance of attracting a better caliber of player to the club with the promise of 6 group stage games to get spanked in next season.

Yeah but then Levy will offer 12m under asking price and Woolwich will offer full whack.

I genuinely couldn't give a fuck about champions league, been there, done that, bought fuck all with the proceeds.

Most seem to be talking as if a EL place has already been achieved whereas that’s far from a given indeed get nothing from the next two games and depending on how Newcastle perform at Utd & Brentford and Chelsea at Brighton and home to Bournemouth could see one of or both of the clubs currently in 6th and 7th position finishing on 63 points and both w probably have a better GD.
Exactly.
