In recent years,maybe(2000 onwards) .But not in the past.Bang on.
No chance in hell that Woolwich would beat City if the roles were reversed. It would be peak Spursy for us to do it.
I've felt for years that Woolwich players always seemed to "get" the rivalry more than our squad.
Yeah I think it's probably connected to Woolwich being so much more successful than us over the 90s/early 2000s and it instilled a feeling of superiority within the club.In recent years,maybe(2000 onwards) .But not in the past.
That's the why VDV(the original one) was so liked. He truly got it.
We won't win the ropey league.weve had CL football a decent amount of times over the last 8 years and its only got us to this point now... our squad is better suited to europa anyway. our first 11 isnt even good enough for CL let alone the squad.
we should actually be looking to win the europa. it should be an realistic achievement.
This is it.We struggled to pump an already relegated Burnley
Regardless of if we want to win or not, Man City will beat us unless something ridiculous happens like their keeper getting sent off, and even then id still think they'd beat us
because, quite simply, they are better at football
We won't win the ropey league.
All we'll do is struggle all season with Thursday/Sunday fixtures until we innevitably go out and have nothing, not even decent prize money.
Alot of fans want Ange backed. He ain't getting backed with Ropey league money.
I like this approach because it means City will tear us to pieces on the counter and win comfortably, so that lot down the road lose the league.
Our good record against them in recent years has been down to Conte/Jose park the bus and counter tactics. The 3-3 this season was a peak "catching City before they have got into gear" result. If Ange sticks to his guns this could get messy for us.
For me, they're conflated because I feel at one with the team. My mind is with the players for every moment they are on the pitch. It's not a spectator sport for me. It's full mental immersion.I don't expect the players want to lose against City do I have no idea why you're conflating the fans' feelings with the players?

Maybe I'm the world's first Zen football fan but I do firmly believe that purity of mind (or lack thereof) has an effect on what happens on the pitch. From the fan listening on the radio to the players that are out there. This is why I feel so concerned about the ramifications of wanting the team to lose.
Europa league would be very useful revenue and we have a decent chance if we believe we are two or three players away from a good team. I actually think we've suffered having too few games this season. In particular the fringe players are incredibly short on minutes when they do come on.We won't win the ropey league.

Still got more chance of attracting a better caliber of player to the club with the promise of 6 group stage games to get spanked in next season.
What are the best drugs to achieve this state of mind you function on??
I want some.

Exactly. Most seem to be talking as if a EL place has already been achieved whereas that’s far from a given indeed get nothing from the next two games and depending on how Newcastle perform at Utd & Brentford and Chelsea at Brighton and home to Bournemouth could see one of or both of the clubs currently in 6th and 7th position finishing on 63 points and both w probably have a better GD.
