He pretty much decided on Bayern last summer, he was in minich ready to sifn. it was Hoj deal that scuppered it. Can't imagine we could change his mind

As I said, I would like us to at least properly try. Might not work, ofc.
Also - if Fulham would still be interested in PEH, then... well... we still have him as of now to use as bargaining chip?!

Surely Bayern is glamorous club and all, but maybe offering him same money and ability to stay in London and play in European competition could somehow help our case? Don't know for sure.

Never said that at all!
What I said was if you have a specific gambling habit and you were close to the action or in fact working in the industry you bet on then the chances of relapse obviously increase!

"Ivan Toney repeatedly placed bets on matches his own team were involved in, including 13 occasions when he backed his club to lose, and gave “clearly false” answers to the investigation into his breaches of gambling rules, an independent regulatory commission has found."

Risk is a funny thing, you may think it has reduced, but it is always there!
I wasnt really that interested in his case and just assumed it was things like spot betting he was doing. But he actually bet on his club to lose and people would be happy with signing him? Find that a bit staggering tbh.

Don't really like the idea of signing Toney.

Also don't want our rivals to sign him, which means I rate him as a player that would improve them, so certainly improves us.

Will just go with the flow and complain about whatever outcome does happen.
Pretty sure that's how it's done round these parts.

Thing is, the premier league is rife with betting and the connections to shady Asian betting syndicates are hard to shake. Brentford are owned by a professional gambler I think.

It’s not right to attach all the blame to the players who are surrounded by sharks but, that doesn’t mean that you throw 40m at a player that you know has issues with it and just hope for the best.

I would also say that we dont have full information on Toney or any player we are signing. The club are only ever going to get 80% at best. You dont know what you are going to deal with until the player walks through the door. I dont think it will happen because of the added risk. However, if the gambling thing wasnt there then I think we'd be all over it.

I'm not even certain we will buy another striker unless Richy goes anyway.

We need the Euros to start as it is going to be a bloody slow week football wise until then.

I have a feeling you are right about a #9. We will sign a versatile forward that can play all 3 positions IMO.

99.9% our starting front 3 for the start of the season will be Son, Richy, Johnson/Kulusevski

If we are talking about pure talent then Toney is a very good striker that doesn't actually have many weak points (good finisher, good passer, good hold up play, good in the air, good with his back to goal, good running onto the ball, good pace).

Only issues are his questionable attitude and age. I mean he disrespected his club on video then doubled down and disrespected them again on video (in additional to his gambling addiction).

40m ....I think I would be tempted but pass. 30m I think I'd be happy we take the risk.

Let's be real the fans don't really know what they want this Summer and we're all ready to meltdown regardless of who comes in. This fanbase though historically reacted to foreign players who are unknowns because they have a little bit of mystique about them hence why fans fell in love with players like Soldado and kept lauding him even though he was stinking out the place and Jansen was given so much grace despite the fact he was complete ass.

For example some of our fans want Giminez but at the same time will tell you Troy Parrot isn't good enough.

It's the perception of the sexy foreigner that fans relate to as opposed to your run of the mill homegrown English striker, we see Toney's a lot more than other strikers abroad as well so we see more of his deficiencies as a player so speak on the thing he can't do as opposed to the things he's capable of yet I don't see the same energy for players like Sesko or Gyökeres, Toney's age probably counts against him as well.

At the end of the day Toney represents an upgrade because he's a good striker who's played in this league before, has a respectable record for Brentford who aren't an attacking team and he's better than our current options, no-one can argue against that and for £40m we could do a lot worse,
Yeah, fair play, you're not wrong.

I think it's like the difference between going to the dentist and going to a brothel.

You don't *have* to do either, but I'm not going to judge if you feel the need to sort yourself out once in a while, and if you're going to do one or the other, I'll admit that only one of them sounds exotic and exciting.

Problem is, our teeth are falling out.

as regards centrebacks, we have our first choice pairing of Cuti and VDV.We also have Dragusin who wants more ,inures. We also want another left sided one. The thing is that there must be ample times when Dragusin and/or the new boy gets plying time ahead of Cuti and/or Mickey, not just when one of them gets injured or sent off. I know Woolwich relied on their 2 centrebacks nearly all the time last season but City, however, rotated very often. We have Europa’s many games to play (if we progress) so hopefully there should not be a problem.

We seem to be getting linked to a hell of a lot of players.
I reckon that has Paratici written all over it. Probably working on three players for each position and will sign one.

I just don't see where the money comes from to sign all these £30-£60m players. No CL, no big money sale, no 2 consecutive windows of savings (2018 lols)

Have we got another 52 Beyonce concerts lined up?

Going to the brothel will give you a short term boost, once you've done it the novelty wears off

Apparently 👀
