I don’t think that forehead Bayern propaganda or PSG mouthpiece are any less unreliable than this guy.

Not a single soul had Bergvall coming to Spurs until suddenly we were in the game out of nowhere.

If we look at what clubs actually need, Bayern and PSG interest makes more sense to be tools to bump the price for Doue than them actually chasing him.

Bayern just signed Olise and are signing Simons after the Euros.

PSG have Barcola and will be hunting Kvaratshkelia or Rafa Leao.

He’s not. He’s competing to start. We played VDV at LB last few games of the season and Dragusin became a starter.

The concept of a back up is outdated. At least in clubs seriously trying to win things.

You need your strongest team out in a cup final. You're choosing Romero and Van De Ven.

And that's because Dragusin is back up. I am sure we had the signing in mind to either flip to profit due to his potential or because we know we aren't going to keep hold of one of Romero/Van de Ven for too long.

Maybe you decide that you need VdV at LB and Dragusin as a 3rd CB. That works because he’s a starting quality player that has played plenty of minutes in the rotation.

You build a squad with quality and versatility so there is different first 11s depending on what you need.

Even if you did have a first choice 11, how often would they all be fit for your biggest games? If you sign back up quality players then you lose strength every time they aren’t. Big clubs with trophies to win can’t afford that.

I think the difference is you're treating backup as if it's some dirty word. Which translates to you're not particularly good enough.

Dragusin is back up. It doesn't mean he's a bad player, doesn't mean he's not of the quality to start. Simply that he has two centre backs ahead of him that are better and the majority of the game time will go to them.

Do I think Dragusin is good enough to start for Spurs? Yeah. But he's still back up.

We started this because you said the Turkish guy is too good to be a back up at Spurs.

Never intentionally sign a player worse than what you have if you are trying to catch teams better than you.

You Brennan Johnson haters just can’t stop bringing him up huh.

And you use him as an example that Ange has a poor eye for talent?

What a baffling take.
Don't think he's a bad footballer per se, he's just so clearly not the type of winger for the brand of football Ange wants to play (high possession, high pressing).

Brennan is a classic counter attacking inside forward; good when he's got space to run into, but put him up out on the right touchline and task him with dribbling a low block and he's absolutely useless.

He can't take a player on from a standing start, can't go both sides, doesn't have a left foot, can't cut inside, he isn't good at holding possession, isn't a particularly good passer, and can't finish to save his life. Additionally he's weak defensively and a bad presser, two things which are pretty much unforgivable in this system.

What he does have is (1) got a good low cross on him he can whip in from the byline and (2) he's good at arriving late in the box and getting on the end of crosses himself, although whether he can finish those is pretty hit and miss. That's about it.

What am I missing? Do people really think this is the sort of profile of winger that's gonna take us up a notch?

As for Ange, yes it does raise big red flags that Brennan was his number one target last summer that we're (1) already looking to upgrade, assuming the Neto reports are true, and (2) the rumoured replacement, Neto, while a much more appropriate profile for our system has one of the worst injury records I've ever seen.

all true...its insane that players that limited can go for 50m quid! quite sickening.

huge red flag! not only on his judgement of value for money in terms of quality alone! but the fact hes buying players that are not suitable for his own system....scary. any mug knows if you wanna pin a side in you need players who can play off the cuff and keep the fucking ball!
