I doubt if we will renew Ben Davies contract, if he wanted to move on for regular football that would be perfectly understandable.

The others would be filling in out of position or weakening us elsewhere - VdV is our starting centre back even if Radu is very good. I think genuine competition at left back would be good.
Surpised one of the promoted clubs haven’t come in for Davies. Would be a great signing for any of them. We could put the money to a new left back. He’s not really cut out to play our system

Think you're looking in the wrong column. A few more goals wouldn't hurt, obviously, but the goals conceded was absolutely unacceptable.
I believe it all ties into the system.

We need to control the game better up top like I say. If we are not taking those chances we have set the structure for the match. Tippy tappy around the box with no penetration.

Kill these games early and we dictate the game better imo. Including defensive structure.

The best example that comes to mind is Luton away last season. Richi missed two good chances in the first 15 mins, then we scrambled for a late winner.

Those early chances go in then we set up better defensively for the remainder of the match. Bringing them out more and giving us more chances on the break.

Oh, and of course the set pieces were an embarrassment last season. Hope we have worked on that.

What is the obsession everyone has with Eze good player but he plays in midfield and we have
Kulu
Maddison
Bentancur
Sarr
Gray
Bergvall
Bissouma
Skipp

He cannot play on the wing so I cannot see us signing him unless we sell Bentancur or Kulu.

Yesterday
Decent signings seemed so far away
Then we got our hands on Archie Gray
Oh I believe in yesterday

Suddenly
Our deadwood is half the price it used to be
Ghost of N’Dombele hanging over me
Deadline day will be here suddenly

Why Hojberg had to go
We all know but wouldn’t say
Signings we got so wrong
How I long for Hoddle todaaaaaayy

Yesterday
Ange ball was such an easy game to play
Watching Woolwich throw the title away
Damn I really enjoyed that day

Bored , sorry
You need "Help" mate.

If Barca can't pull the Levers then PSG are one of the few clubs that will compete with them for wages. Can't see Williams going there but it would show that PSG want a bigger name to replace Mbappe and maybe aren't as hot on Doue as was reported.

If I was guessing we really were looking at Doue but all the interest from Bayern and PSG did was pump his price past where we wanted to go.

So far, the only report on an offer for Doue, as far as I'm aware, is the €35M that Bayern offered, which was rejected.

We've paid £40M for Gray, so I don't think his price is beyond where we want to go.

The long and the short is that we have absolutely no idea who we're in for, nor how far advanced we are in negotiations for players. POK said we're after 3, whether Doue is one of them remains to be seen.

You don't have to score goals to stop teams scoring. Just don't stand in their half all match and leave acres of space for them to expliot if they have half quick forward. Our whole plan seemed to be to rely on Mickey catching them, which is unfair on him. We need players who can keep a hold of the ball in the final 3rd and prevent teams getting out from their defence. Even then, when there's a goal kick, their keepers just hoof it long and get chances.

He won the UEFA cup with Sevilla and they absolutely love him at that club.
They won the Uefa Cup with him. IIRC he barely registered a meaningful stat during his time away.
He's definitely an enigma. He's done little anywhere to prove he does anymore than make up the numbers usually.

It’s true. Midfield goal output last season was putrid.

Yup, Maddison wasn't on song, and Kulusevski was the only other player to score much from midfield (stats below obviously show both when he played CM and RW), with Sarr chipping in a few too.

Worth saying that our total scored wasn't bad at all versus recent season averages - with 5 OG's !

But more goals in 24/5 definitely preferable.
