How do you know that Bergvall and Gray can’t have the kind of impact that Sarr and Udogie had?

Wait until you see what these players can do before giving up. Why are some fans more interested in how much a player cost rather than how well they can actually play?
I’ve seen enough natural ability in Gray and Bergvall already to see they’ll improve us. Don’t care about their age. It means nothing. They look brave to get on the ball and play forward. We need more risk takers. Those two kids will be regulars in our team by Xmas at the latest. We are strong in midfield. Its front players need.

Devine also. All three are brave and play forward

Get that shithouse Royal out too and maybe Gray can cover RB and play 25 games there

He ain't winning the title this season or next, and yes to win one you need a defence as good as OJ Simpson had.
We probably will score more goals this season, but unless, he can address the defensive issues then it will be similar to last year.
I think the opposite - we are fine defensively, just lose momentum by not scoring when on top and putting games to bed, then come under pressure as the games ebbs and flows

Yeah,Devine looks very good and Moore a ridiculous talent. I’d rather watch these guys than Royal,Werner,Skipp and Hojbjerg. Guys that are brave on the ball and play a riskier game but can back it up. Whether these guys are ready to step in and do that only time will tell. Surround them with good players and get them playing more and more and we’ll be better to watch. We also have that surprise element with younger untried players.
The likes of Vicario,Romero,Biss,Bentancur,Madders and Sonny are massive to these guys development.

I wouldn’t say we are fine defensively we definitely need a slight tactical rethink. Lose the ball in the opposition penalty box and 2/3 passes later they are through on goal is not right and happened far too often last season

Palace? Brentford?

Rennes?!!!!??!?!
Happy Toddlers And Tiaras GIF

Bournemouth??.. Their chairman was talking about the club have 2 or 3 options if Solanke leaves.

He's trying to reassure their fans when there hasn't been any significant bids that media know about..

A quick look back at some classic TFC quotes...

"Just sign Bastoni you bald count!"

"Just sign Tobido you bald count!"

"Just pay the cash for Raya Levy, tight fisted count!"

"Levy cheap skate signing!"

"We never sign youth, look at Brighton! No plan Levy!"

"Levy never backs the manager! Count!"

One more?

"He's shit!"

I agree with a lot of this - our playing style became easy to adapt to, so we'd get low blocked and end up in a quagmire because we could not find the speed or invention to unlock the oppo defence and then we'd inevitably give a chance away and find ourselves in trouble, often on the break caught high up - a great example was Forest at home, we battered them the whole half, they got one break and scored, we did win that one evenually but we made hard work of it.

Mate, we've just bought two 18 year olds. If you're telling me they've not been bought primarily with their resale value in mind, then I've got some magic beans to sell you. If they work out then great for Levy, if not then they're still young enough to earn some money back.

Its never about now, always on the never never...

I never said that though mate.

You're saying always and all .... it's just not true....

Of course there is some investment strategy going on. Every single club does it.

But there are examples of players we have bought that stayed with us well past their prime resale value....

Eriksen, Jan, Lloris are some examples.

We have also bought players which were not likely to have resale value... Richarlison. Sissoko (though not the greatest buy for other reasons), Maddison, Moura, Hojbjerg, Toby, Bissouma, Perisic

And others for the here and now like Van De Ven, Vicario, Kulusevski, Bentancur, Porro, Johnson.

And again, this isn't a discussion on whether they were good, bad or stupid signings. Its about the intent of the purchases in terms of resale value and whether they were for the squad here an now.

You have chosen to make the broad sweeping statement, not me. I'm.merely pointing out the hyperbole you have used is incorrect, and that it would be fucking stupid for any single club to not buy promising youth players with the hope they will turn out to be amazing players that also have a resale value.

That's sort of his point.

Our defensive worries are weakened by having technically superior offensive players who don't lose the ball and give opponents a chance to make the 2/3 passes.

We play a high line. If you're not capable of keeping the ball in the final third, you're always going to be under threat due to the high risk/high reward nature of the high line.

It's the exact same for Liverpool and City. Except they're much better offensively than we are and either create more due to players being suited or just have much better offensive players than us on a technical level. Ultimately, most of the goals those top clubs concede are on counters or due to defensive errors.

Look at some of the goals we conceded. Kulusevski loses the ball easily due to passing to no one. Luton go up the other end and score. Son loses the ball due to not being able to hold the ball up, Newcastle knock it long, score (I think this actually happened twice) . Just to name two quick ones off the top of my head.
