How Dry should our Powder be?

Why send Philips out on loan and keep Davies. The guy is built like the proverbial xxxx house. Has looked decent in games so far. I can’t see any downside in giving him the experience and exposure to first team football. Why keep going with Davies who should have been moved on a while back. He is not the future.
Can Phillips cover at LCB or is Dragusin primary cover there?

Maybe Davies is being retained for future club plans? Maybe they feel it’s too much hassle to move him on for only a small fee?

I don’t know but I’d be fine either way. I’d rather Phillips get another loan where he can play 40+ matches this season.

I agree with a lot of this - our playing style became easy to adapt to, so we'd get low blocked and end up in a quagmire because we could not find the speed or invention to unlock the oppo defence and then we'd inevitably give a chance away and find ourselves in trouble, often on the break caught high up - a great example was Forest at home, we battered them the whole half, they got one break and scored, we did win that one evenually but we made hard work of it.
Yeah - dare I say the Goons go 1 up and go even harder for 2 or 3 so they can play keep ball for the rest of the game as it’s done

We gotta be even more ruthless and braver

That's sort of his point.

Our defensive worries are weakened by having technically superior offensive players who don't lose the ball and give opponents a chance to make the 2/3 passes.

We play a high line. If you're not capable of keeping the ball in the final third, you're always going to be under threat due to the high risk/high reward nature of the high line.

It's the exact same for Liverpool and City. Except they're much better offensively than we are and either create more due to players being suited or just have much better offensive players than us on a technical level. Ultimately, most of the goals those top clubs concede are on counters or due to defensive errors.

Look at some of the goals we conceded. Kulusevski loses the ball easily due to passing to no one. Luton go up the other end and score. Son loses the ball due to not being able to hold the ball up, Newcastle knock it long, score (I think this actually happened twice) . Just to name two quick ones off the top of my head.

Agree to a point but when we do lose the ball as every side does no matter how good.
we have to be better equipped to deal with the counter attack

It would be shite. Only real first 11 upgrade is Neto and thats when he's fit. Gray i think will be a good signing but it would be difficult to imagine much of an improvement on last season. Hopefully its just my expectation management kicking in and they'll surprise us.
We don’t need Gallagher or Ramsey. Are they any better than what we have already? I reckon Alfie is better technically than CG. Doesn’t make sense especially when we need top quality striker and wide player.

It can work, the main issue is that apart from Kulusevski (who isn’t an ideal fit as a winger in Ange’s system) None of our current forwards can keep the ball for an extended period of time in the final 3rd.

Johnson, Son and Richarlison are all final action players.

Werner Solomon and Gil are not even worth discussing.

Son is a better striker than a winger to me these days, especially how Ange uses them. His movement and finishing is still brilliant but he can’t carry the ball and beat anyone 1v1 with regularity, we desperately lack a Nico Williams/Jeremy Doku/Anthony Gordon style player, a winger who will occupy 2-3 opponents every time they get the ball.

Moore is on his way but it’s too early to rely on him full time.
I wonder if Moore was at Barca if they would play him?

Too busy reciting the "Not One Brick" mantra.
it's a shame cause I'd actually like to know his thoughts on this, beyond then "1 trophy in X years" mantra. it'd be nice to discuss a bit of context like the years under Jol/Harry/Poch etc

the rise of stat owned super clubs etc.

but there's just no point. it's the same myopic collection of 8-10 posts.

"Dear Mr Levy I think you are doing a brilliant job don't listen to the haters who harp on about trophies as if they are important.Yours Mr Ironman"p.s so do my friends Dogs Doodoo and Dim Shady and our bestie in France Mlle. Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey

There's some posts you type then instantly regret it realising you're an actual fully grown man making up childish slander names on a club forum.

This is probably one of those times isn't it.

Same with Brentford,Palace,Brighton and Luton at home. That’s five games where we battered those teams but went behind and went on to win. In those five games we actually conceded very few chances.

As of today, this is the business I'd like to see us do...and that I think we need to do if we're genuinely serious about competing.

IN

- Backup goalie: no Frase v2.0 but a kid who can really challenge Vic
- Left-footed defender: 24-28yo, got top league + CL expo, who's gonna make Udo fight for every ball and not give up like he did too many times last season
- Can-do-it-all CM: first, one who's always fit...if that means cutting Biss, Roddy or another of our big name CM, so be it. Need that real leader in the mid, especially now we got Gray & Bergvall. If he chips in with 10-15 G/A, even better
- Elite winger: Timo shouldn't be here, Kulu ain't a PL winger (or attacking player), BJ still a kid and not really his game. Solomon & Gil are jokes. Bet youse we give Nico Williams the money, he'll come for 2 or 3 years then get his Barca switch. If not him, that's the level you gotta be looking at. Big clubs make big moves...
- Proper CF: I like Ricky and I sympathize with the kid re his issues but let's be honest, 60 mil for him was always an absolutely shocking decision. He never was a goal machine, never will be...Ange's system or not. Need a guy who's been there & done it at the highest level...so no Solanke, though I rate him

OUT

- Frase
- Whiteman
- Regui
- Emerson
- Phillips (loan)
- Skipp (sell/loan)
- Lo Celso
- Devine (loan)
- Gil
- Solomon
- Veliz (sell/loan)
- Scarlett (sell/loan)
I know I go about BJ but why is he a kid at 23? Think his older than nico and 6 years older than limal. Has 5 years on gray and Lucas. We can’t giving him the get out of jail of being young. Plenty of players who are younger than him in the PL and in Europe.
