Would be a blatant example of Levy buying based on the bargain value rather than the value the player brings to the team

:harrylol:

What was the last game you saw David play and in what ways would him playing for us not add value?

I've only seen some clips and don't really have a strong opinion either way but I imagine, based on your comment, you know his game inside out.

Wake me up, when September... begins?

I wouldn't be so pessimistic though chap. We do still have a full month to work on these deals. Obviously, it's happened before, but we have so much fucking money now. Don't think people realize how big our financial advantages are over European clubs at this point. We can definitely afford at least two big attacking signings.
Only problem is that our two main targets play in the prem lge. Eze and Neto.

Ambitious clubs use their gravitas and financial clout to prise the player away against the selling clubs will.
You mean like City did with Kane?
Isak’s contract runs through 2028.

Would I be right in thinking that you’re not involved in the sports management business and you’ve never employed a sports agent?

Call it a hunch.

Fair. I just think he is a serious talent and would elevate our squad but honestly can't see anyone paying 60 up front for him
I've been thinking about the Eze transfer, and I'm not so sure it'll be up front.
I reckon Palace have taken that stance with any team that just triggers the clause. However, if you're prepared to go North of that, I have a feeling they'll settle on a lower up front with later installments.

They're playing hardball with their prized asset in the same way we did with Bale IMO.

We did pretty much the same with Porro, paying over the trigger sum in order to get staggered payments, so it wouldn't suprise me if we were negotiating similarly with CP.

Eze ain't that good.
He can't even get in to the England first XI.
He is a pass.

Well, more like Bayern did with Kane. Or RM did with Bale. Woolwich and Rice. Or further down the scale, Spurs did with Hojbjerg. There are thousands of examples across the football spectrum tbh.

Do you think clubs have to advertise their players for sale on the football version of exchange and mart or something?

Yeah thay would make sense... it's very quiet about him. No concrete news about him at all which is perhaps quite suspicious in itself.

I think that's bound to happen.

Given the bid for Edwards the 35% is still probably worth 10m +, and nobody's getting anywhere close to 50 or 60 (even though its said the release clause sporting want is 80m) a bid of say 45m or 50m + the 35%| should be very tempting (they only paid 20m for him) plus they also make 100% of the fee on Edwards so they make a lot of money between the 2 transactions.

In the real world Gyokeres is probably only worth 45m and still a risk he won't be able to perform in PL.

Definitely seems there’s a deal to do.

We’ve done business with Sporting before as well.

I think you missed the bit about the length of Isak’s contract.
2028-2024 are big numbers so think of it as 8-4.

I hope this helps.

Fair enough.

I don't share your opinion, but I was talking about how I think we'd negotiate it if we actually are in for him.

I think there are too many binary thinkers in here, when it comes to players. Where will he play? I think he'll play right where Maddison plays, rotating with him. I'd even speculate that he'd play as a joint 10 with Maddison against low block. Interchanging to move teams around and create openings. If he's brought in, it's to be another creative midfielder and that strengthens us. Too many people shoehorning players into rigid formations when we don't play rigid formations.

I've said it before, it's a squad game now. We can field 16 players in any given match, and we play a hight tempo game. Where do we go for our creativity when Maddison is injured or off form?

I honestly believe they'd complement each other if they played together. The movement of both is excellent. Both can slow and speed up the tempo of a game, they'd be telepathic by Christmas IMO.

I'd love to see Eze in Lillywhite.

EVERY player is a risk,,. Gyokeres was THE standout out player in the whole of the championship play offs his move abroad, stat wise looks like it's improved him ..he was 100 % ready bac then and honestly I couldn't quite work out why a prem club don't dive in..perhaps he didnt fancy a low end prem club, who knows !!but now he'llmove to a club that has champions lge aspirations they'll be the only one that can afford his release clause...
...plus he's younger than the other realistic option Toney...

You actually believe this about Bentancur mate?
Not as much bentancur but he’s not a creative midfielder. He’s a tidy player who passes forward and gets about the pitch and I think he’s very good but I don’t see him cutting teams open anywhere near enough. Villa at home is the best I’d seen him before he got smashed but we don’t see that enough. Sarr is all energy but also not creative.

As chris cowlin said last week our last statement signing was klinsmann in 94. Getting isak would be a statement signing. Hit the ground running.
I’ll be honest and say that I don’t give a shit about “statement” signings, How many have Chelsea made under Boehly? How many of said signings have Man United made in the last decade?

The main question is, are they are good fit for us and Ange.

And Isak is out of the question now, the time to buy him was when he was at Sociedad.

I think our fans are really fucking deluded about our current place in the pecking order.

Fair but the bolded part is so true, he was cruising before that cunt got involved.
