I think the obvious difference comparing them to us, is under Arteta the higher ups feel incredibly stable as a club with him at the helm? Whilst with Ange there's still so much unknown. I think if Ange could keep us in top 4 for the next two years and perhaps more importantly, win us some silverware, then I think.........things could change? :dohertyshrug:
My thoughts on the end of season collapse and Ange have been posted many times over and whilst new season, new chance etc there has to be an air of concern from the board.

He was backed more extensively (financially) last year and that is so far NOT the case this time. I'm sure things are happening behind the scenes etc and I'm not panicking. However Poch was given a huge wedge before ultimately being canned and if there's any uncertainty from Levy that Ange might not be the one after all, he's going to be hesitant with the cash. After all, if the trigger is pulled the next guy may have players not suited and we are right back to 2019 again. I hope that's not the case as we have to break this cycle.

Then sack Ange now then if you don’t believe he’s the one.

Hmm I'd not thought of that, interesting theory.

We don’t have an HG (non club trained) issue for 2024- 2025 by the way. We ideally need a minimum of 4 and have

Forster
Davies
Spence
Gray
Maddison
Johnson

Even if Forster and Davies go, we are sweet. On the club training we have a bigger issue being ideally 4 but all we’ve got is 2
- Austin
- Skipp

We could replace Forster with Whiteman if we think he’s good enough I suppose.

wouldnt be surprised if we bring back Edwards on that basis.

Weve only spent about 15m less this summer than we did at the same stage last summer....

It wasn't until round about the coming week last year where we saw the likes of Phillips, van de Ven and Veliz, signed and then Johnson came at the end of the window.

So I am not really sure your theory checks out tbh. Unless we sign no one else between now and the window

We don't have HG issue as such, more club trained.

We only have 3. You need 4 for Europe or you name a short squad.

Do Donley and Devine count as club trained? Sarr will soon right? Bergvall eventually?

We sold our best player and goalscorer for £90m last summer so of course there was more decisive backing last summer. The team couldn't have survived without it, we had to spend early to keep the team alive.

Now we have a more settled team and there is time to be more considered with our signings. As much as fans hate it, signing players for big money is not simple. Liverpool haven't made any signings, City nobody too exciting, Woolwich just one squad player, United just a couple of youngsters. Calm down and let's see what happens. I think we are running a much tighter ship these days in terms of leaking transfer targets so it seems like we aren't doing anything, but we obviously are.

So Fullkrug and Guido to West Ham. Osimhen to Arse. But we cant get a striker. What shite.

You still getting yourself worked up about Fullkrug and an Argentinian that no cunt knows going to West Ham? Osimhen isn’t all that either. Fuck what other clubs do and how much they spend. We will bring in other players but it takes time and it needs to be right. This isn’t football manager.

It's just not worth bringing Edwards back just for the sake of filling 1 extra spot, especially when we can just give those minutes to an academy player that'll be on UEFA List B. We've already spent money in fixing those issues long term with the likes of Bergvall and Gray who can become club-trained so just need to use the academy a bit for the next couple of seasons if needed. Rather spend the money on somebody that improves the starting lineup than another squad player like Edwards.

Donley and Devine are young enough they don’t need to count as anything yet.

Bergvall, Gray and Vuskovic will eventually count as club trained and HG. Sarr will be HG but not club trained because we loaned him and didn’t keep him registered here like the goons did with Saliba.

Bit different.

Both Sarr and Saliba were loaned out however the rules state : "A player's period on loan to a club from another National Association will not count towards the calculation of his Home Grown status unless his registration is held in suspension by the League and the FA and he continues to be entitled to be employed in the UK."

Because Saliba is an EU national, he has right to work in the UK. Because Sarr was born and raised in Senegal before moving to France in September 2020, he falls outside of that remit.

If Woolwich get osimhen they might go that extra step vs city

If Woolwich get him then I would think the would probably be favourites for the title, at least joint with City.

The Kronke son has shown ambition compared to his dad who didn’t seem to give a shit. I’d love to have that level of ambition even if it means slightly falling short of Pep each year.
