So a guy with 28 goals in 113 Prem games
A guy who was banned for betting against his own team
Or a guy who was at fucking Coventry up until last season

What an embarrassment of riches that is

Christ some of the shite that comes out on here is unreal
So you’ve told us why everyone is shit. Please tell us who you suggest?

You’d somehow paint Mbappé as shit because he has one goal in 9 Euros games.

I think we are crazy. I don't think it makes sense to pay that and not try for Oshimen. No I don't think he's perfect either but he's two years younger and I've seen him shred prime VVD. I think with a stable less volatile environment he'd get back to near that level. Napoli get the 65 plus Kulusevski then play the add ons game.

Why do people think the full cost is just the fee?

Osimhen would still be £30m to £40m more expensive than Solanke all in.

Not to mention, we’ve got to get them to agree to joining us.

End of the day, Solanke is taking a step up, Osimhen would be taking a step down.

1) Who cares about seasons from 7 years ago
2) He's a piece of shit, this doesn't really affect his talent
3) So what? Good players can't come from Coventry now?

1) £65m on a guy who had 9 Prem goals in 3 season up until last year is a huge risk
2) good player, but by a few accounts is an absolute weapon - big risk with dressing room harmony
3) they can, but we’re talking about a fee north of £70m for a bloke who we have no idea will do in the Prem and has one season of higher level football under his belt and that was the Portuguese league

Combine all that and your original assertion was bollox, this is the worst striker market I can remember

Pretty much every striker that isn't 100m+ is a risk. If they weren't a risk, they'd be demanding 100m+ for them, that's just the reality of things. Having multiple good strikers on the market for sane prices is better than the market has been in recent years.

The striker market isn't that bad, you have Solanke, Toney, Gyokeres all available. People here are just turning their noses up at all options that aren't from a foreign league.

It's bad relative to the prices on offer though.

I guess when you're in a supply/demand market then that's always gonna be the case, the problem is that these guys haven't really build up any consistency so it's not as if you're getting a guarantee of what you're paying.

A player who has one hot season at the top level shouldn't really cost that much but this is where the market is.

We have a lot of youth in the side, there's nothing wrong about adding a player in his prime to balance it.

I don't disagree, not even Solanke hate, but to put him in the top 20 most expensive signings of the last 5 years, and perhaps top 30 of all time is crazy. He is average, however he does suit our style and does offer more than what we have.

I see how it ends, we have £120mil of Richarlison and Solanke on the books, can't shift them as we expect above market value offers and don't upgrade for another 4 years.

We know this club won't thrown money around, if 65 is on Solanke, 40 on Gray then our business is pretty much done bar maybe one other.

I agree it’s too much but the options are so limited.

What would you be happy paying, 40?

I'd pay the 65 if I knew I didn't matter. But we know this club, that's half the transfer budget if not more, he is a huge gamble at the age / coming off one good prem season.

Options are awful I agree, but 65 on Solanke then Jan, next summer there is someone available but we are stuck.

Leave it to Lange and Ange, just my opinion.

The ENIC transfer window variant of Stockholm syndrome really is something to behold biannually.

Yeah i mean the same people post the same boring complaining shit every day expecting something to change.

Its more likely that it's misplaced anger. People don't want to address the real issues in their miserable lives. It's a lot easier to come to a message board, blow off steam by calling Levy a cheap bald cunt. But hey, if it stops someone from beating their partner, i'm all for it.

Damn, bro cooked

I find it difficult to believe that we'd waste all the time and effort on negotiating with the player/agents if we didn't at least have 'some' idea of how much (if not the structure) the selling club would be willing to accept.
We can't speak to a contracted player without consent from the club that holds his contract, so we'd need to ask permission first.

It seems to be beyond the mental faculties of some to extrapolate that, during that conversation, we'd ask what sort of money they're looking for.

We're definitely a club that has even stopped pretending that it wants to compete. Just does the bare minimum as it prepares to throw yet another manager under the bus

I think at this point I despise our owners more than I do Woolwich.

:pochshock:

£70m for Gyokeres and £65m for Solanke is sane????

Risk is fine when you can purchase without full knowledge your chances of not getting shafted are maybe 35%. If Solanke bombs we will maybe get £25m back, Toney and Gyokeres could be less.

I’ve said it jokingly in the past, but with each passing day £25m on DCL looks less bat shit. Yes he is relatively shit, yes if he sneezes too hard he will be out for half a season, yes he dresses like a cunt, but at £25m we can probably flog him to Palace in a couple of years for around £15m and not take too much of a bath on it
