Isn’t the fact that there are still over 3 weeks of the transfer window to go, a convincing rebuttal to your concerns?

If we’re here with 48 hours to go then I get it. But for now we’re still spinning plates and trying to do the right thing for the team. No one will care about these three weeks come January if we can get the best possible player in.
If Solanke was the target then he hasn't been away at any tournament in the summer. We could have made that move weeks ago.

Quality is subjective but when you’re talking about 20-70m signings then I think we can say we’re talking about quality. So far we’re being linked with 50m+ signings.

You had very good attention to details when it suited you but displayed very poor attention to detail when it was inconvenient. The reason your comparisons with 2018 are irrelevant is not because the word was in caps. The supporting evidence was right there - since that transfer window (as the stadium was nearing completion), we have spent very well. In the past five transfer windows we have been too 4 for net spend and we are likely to be again this summer.

You can’t rationally cherrypick one season and ignore five other more recent seasons of countervailing evidence. The strength of your feeling should match the evidence.

Why does top 4 in net spend in the last 5 years mean the club is being ran well? Only finished top 4 once in that time period. No trophies in that time period. Surely it just shows we’ve spent a lot of money poorly.

Agreed, transfer deadline day is what matters most this year as we have a fairly settled squad.

My guy !

In all seriousness, I get it , I'm a miserable bastard who tells the same repetitive not very funny jokes on a daily basis

So...

Fuck all else to talk about on the transfer thread

If it upsets you or bores you to death , put me on ignore

It's fine , I can handle being on ignore lists , I'll just end up talking to myself

At least I'll be guaranteed a sensible conversation ;)
Well...

😛

It's not a joke. It's an opinion that's substantiated by a considerable amount of evidence and track record.

As a lifelong fan, seeing spurs throw away opportunities to win hurts and there has to be a point where the countless managers, coaches, and players who have come and gone are no longer "the reason" for a reputation that this club now has

The worst Spurs fans are the ones who blame other fans for us being shit.
We're shit because on the pitch, the owners have done an appalling job for 2.5 decades.

Yes, we could make a couple of great signings now, but I’m certainly coming round to the idea that it would have been much better to have our shit together by now. Get new players integrated with the squad. Make sure they and their families are settled into new homes and schools. Rather that than parachuting them in late August.

Just don’t get why we aren’t getting business done this window. Plenty of reasons before this one, but everything that caused issue in the past seems to be sorted now. So why the lack of action?

On top of that, if we go for players early, we get them before the big boys, or, if we don't, we have time to go for the next option.

It’s bizarre isn’t it, only thing I can think is there was or is another striker who they thought they had a run at?

My hunch is that they wanted to keep powder dry for Eze and as that seemed less and less likely they switched gears.

ENIC did a very good job at getting us to where we are now compared to where we were when they came in. Also they deserve credit for the new stadium and training facilities.
The problem is that they achieved their goal in making us a club that is profitable and qualifies for the CL enough and are happy with where we are

1) We have not been "shit" for 2.5 decades. If I remember correctly Spurs were the best team in PL (in points) over three years period under Poch , and we were in a CL final. That's very far from being shit.

2) What fans have claimed our fans are to blame for lack of success?
