There was only one or two moments but I imagine in the PL teams would target that flank if Spence is LB.

I just don't get why people think Spence is a better LB than Reguilon.

But yes I get it that Ange agrees with you, so...

This is what so many of us just can't get our head around. Why are ENIC supporters so desperate to defend them they have to make up or exaggerate their claims. Why is it that whenever we sign a player, it's used as some kind of evidence that they mist be doing a good job and shifting their focus on to winning?

It's like justifying the actions of the owners is more stimulating / rewarding than yearning to see us lift a trophy.

And any pro ENIC post like yours is fine in the transfer thread. Whereas a reasonable reply like this will be shouted down as off topic!!!

But you're right, it is about fitness and getting the legs working again so fair point. Hopefully they've worked more on our defensive frailties than it seems.

It’s more that people fixate on the fact that we will concede goals because we are a front foot team.

They are determined to see the whole philosophy as a weakness. Every goal we concede is the end of days. Watch this season, none of them even know how many goals from set pieces is a lot but they will be calling for Ange’s head every time we concede from a set piece.

Certainly not right back but left back we do.

VDV is a starting centre back. Donely really unproven there.

Ideally you want 2 good players for each position, then the depth comes from players out of their position. Especially with Europe.

Something like this:

Udogie / ???? / VDV

Porro / Spence / Gray

I get that the consensus is that we need a cover for Udogie. I don't think we do. But I'm ok with it.

The set piece defending is a problem though. There’s no doubt about that

I think the main thing is the drop off if Udogie is injured for 3/4 months.

Suddenly you have VDV out of position for the period.

I think our biggest drop off it LB and RW still. Goalkeeper also but not seen any links there.

With Kulu looking likely as a 10 and Bergval looking ready I think the 10 position is not as bad as feared.

Don't get how people want to buy extra backups like for LB when we already are near the limit/slightly over it in terms of players we can register for Europa. There won't be new signing in defence unless we get rid of Spence, Davies or someone we don't expect to leave (like Deki or Bentancur). Only exception to that is to sign KWP which i don't feel fits there. We have to be left slightly short in some areas because of lack of club trained guys.
