It's genuinely a game-changing signing for us. It doesn't have to be him but absolutely has to be someone of his ilk. If we can bring in a better #8 than Sarr, primarily someone who can shut down transitions against us (LITERALLY OUR BIGGEST ISSUE AT THE CLUB - A dribbly 1v1 specialist does NOT fix this issue - But we absolutely do need one of those profiles in) as they happen we become a side that would compete for top 3 (still a way off from challenging for the top spot, but fucking hell I'll take 3rd all day as a realistic chance).

With Solanke in we have a profile that fits us like a glove (score more goals + concede fewer goals = we will be a better side than last season).

I really like Ramsey but I have to be honest this is because of his ball carrying which catches the eye (another big profile requirement IMO and I'm not sure Gallagher is noted for this) but outside of his ball carrying is Ramsey good without the ball, is he of the profile fit that snuffs out oppo transitions like Gallagher can? I don't know his game well enough to answer this- Ta. (I'm obviously bringing in his name because it's been reported that we are willing to let Lo Celso go and it's been reported that Emery likes him, so I smell a deal here, especially as Villa are doing the PSR dance of death).

Sarr was one of the best players in the premier league at shutting down transitions defensively.

What Ange wants from Gallagher is the pressing and the goals. Sarr can do the pressing but does need to add the goals. Withing 2 seasons max, Sarr is so far clear of Gallagher he's not even visible in the rear view.

Bournemouth dropping 50m on a single transfer but Levy still thinks 60m is a marquee signing.

I didn't know you knew Levy well enough to get that quote (in bold) from him !

So far Solanke seems to be the highest priced player signed by a PL cub this summer - good yes but marquee, hmmmm ?.

And by showing the Solanke contract signed by Tottenham to Bournemouth's bankers Bournemouth can sign any player they want up to that value. Good on them finding what they think is a top alternative striker so quickly.

I would kill someone for a cup win. Probably a Gooner or possibly a Chav if needs must.

No he wasn't! I'm talking about shutting them down before or as they happen, not chasing the Oppo 2 passes already into their transition. We have to shut them down with 5 or so seconds - see City or peak Liverpool (I don't want to completely chuck him under the bus as the solo culprit because it's system-related too - we do commit a lot of players forward and he's often one of those players, other players who should be contributing to shutting down transition are our inverted FB's so there's share in responsibility too.

Sarr is good a winning the ball back when pressing oppo (as a team we are good pressers high-up the pitch), but to have so many transitions against us whilst he's our #8 means he is shit at doing anything about them, it's literally one of the main things a #8 should have in their locker. Galagher for example is night and day better than Sarr at this and therefore would transform us by preventing oppo transitions. NOT dealing with transitions & set pieces (conceding 61 goals last year) is our nemesis.

We are absolutely shit and dealing with oppo transitions, we will not progress as a side if we don't address this. As part of Angeball, we will always have perhaps a higher % against us because it is our accepted way to play and I completely accept this - it's about finding a solution to preventing say 30% less that's all. (I've completely made that figure up but I hope you get the gist).
