Dortmund have been doing it for ages
Remind me of the last time Dortmund won the league?
I don't disagree in that we shouldn't be afraid to sell players , however financially we are now nothing like Dortmund - we are one of the heavy weights - Dortmund have to adopt that model as they can't compete financially with the likes of Munich, I don't want us to become a team that signs young exciting players and then sells them to a bigger club in there prime - granted there will be some players who want to go but that should be the exception, not the model of operation!

Alvarez was well known, lot of clubs were looking at him. Mentioned on this board a few times as well. City just got in there and did the deal, for what was a bargain fee.
That’s the benefit of just getting on with it & making a decent offer. Rather than the long drawn out low ball offers levy likes.
Maybe they offered better wages too which obviously just as important to the player as the club they are signing for. So that’s another reason we seem to end up with our 2nd,3rd or 4th option.

Hugo and then Kane and now Sonny - Don't get me wrong they are respected Pro's but i'd rather make Romero Captain - just seem to have something about him
I don't think Sonny is past it like some here do, he's better suited as a Striker IMO. He will still get 12-15 league goals this season and has a role to play.

But he's not a leader, or a captain. He was anonymous as a player and a captain on Monday.

does feel like that. 2 genuine quality wide players that suit this system would make a huge difference. but we wont get that. we can only hope that moore will evolve into one, but thats a coupe years away and by then romero will be gone and well be short at the back then.

would still take a punt on cheisa, can play both sides and offers quality and dog work in the press.
Short term I’d go for Coman, better stylistic fit.

People won’t like to hear it but the club have already preempted Romero’s departure. Vuskovic and Phillips weren’t signed for any minor reason.
Yeah, we missed an opportunity there, but our finances weren't what they are today, either. Should have sold an Eriksen or Dele or Dier to finance a refresh, but we were still too scared to lose star players to replace them with new up-and-coming talent. And given our horrible scouting at the time, it might have been money pissed away, anyway.
Yeah well, according to the 🟣🟡 mob, we shouldn’t be a “selling club” or whatever that means.

Dortmund or any other team in the Bundesliga haven't won the league in ages because Bayern. There's more parity in the PL, so that a Dortmund model would actually yield success. That is, once Pep calls it quits at City, because right now it's becoming the same story in the PL too.

And, unlike Dortmund, we should be able to hold on to most of the players. If we're in with a shout every year in the league that most players dream of playing in and a consistent CL team, there won't be that many wantaways

Bayern didn't win it last season

any way i like the idea of buying young exciting talent but we need to top that up with experience , also we don't need to do it for the same reason as Dortmund - we are loaded as a club , the stadium has made us financially sound and we should consider ourselves as a heavyweight!

The issue is we've never had someone who has been successful at club level (Hugo and Romero's WC exploits don't translate well).

Over the years no one has been able to say listen lads this is how we get over the line and win this cup/league etc. because they haven't fucking done it! So it just doesn't hold weight.

Kyle Walker wasn't a leader when he joined Man City but having been there and won the lot he now is a leader in that dressing room to the younger players.

“Here we go” Fabrizio Romano confirms Tottenham transfer target’s new club

According to Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter), Conor Gallagher will travel to Madrid either today or tomorrow. The England international will soon sign for Atletico Madrid, putting to bed any remaining links with him and Tottenham. Terms between Atletico and Chelsea have been agreed, as they have been between Atletico and Gallagher too. He will NOT sign for Tottenham.

But an honest question, how many of you would want another Llorente or Edgar Davids kind of signing if that means we add experience but an aging player? Because there will always be some who will grab the opportunity in slamming Levy for showing no ambition but shopping from sale or preloved carts.

Read in an article (probably Shit, but not in a Heculesian way) that we have had Scouts watching Hayden Hackney two first games of the season. I don't know what TBR football is. Probably nothing trustworthy
