It's a good move if:
We want him in a year's time.
We can move Bissouma / Bentancur to make room for him.
He'd be worth the money.
Right now we can't say whether it's good or not. Really though who cares, Betis couldn't afford paying much more than they did, and the alternative was what, keeping Lo Celso? We got what we could out of them and shifted him, that's good enough.
So buying those youngsters wasn't a risk?I agree on the club, atmosphere etc but it’s fucking depressing when we do everything at par and never take risks or do anything different
People aren't really deeping how good this move is

He's gonna end up in Galatasaray or something. Could be worse.
The fact he wants to go back to Betis says it all. This is a regular player in the best international team over the last 3 years. Only 2 defeats I believe. World Cup(which he missed! Shame) and 2 x Copa america.Good tactics - ensure you get an upside every way possible when dealing with a club saying they can't pay and a player determined to go back to Betis only
Yeah it closes a few days later, giving them the option to pick up European rejects for cheap.Actually, isn’t the Turkish window open longer? I remember us selling Dav there last summer after the window closed here

Because we've said fine we'll accept your ridiculously low price but we want to sweeten the deal by having an option on Johnny at €30m (which we will pay you for).
So Betis get to sign Gio for pennies, plus receive an option fee and keep Johnny another season and are only potentially obliged to sell him at a price they are happy with next summer.
We get rid of deadwood and have a free run at a player we like.
yes, something like 15 September so plenty of time. Several windows open for days/couple of weeks in europe eg GreeceActually, isn’t the Turkish window open longer? I remember us selling Dav there last summer after the window closed here
