Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

f this fails then I do worry about this club.
90% of our managerial picks have been either shit or barking. For every Poch there's Timmy, AVB, Nuno, Jose, Conte, Mason.

I hope Ange succeeds but it's like an Aussie Ardiles. He didn't last long. Finishing a match with 4 wingers on the pitch? I remember Shreeves doing that and he didn't last long either.

FFS it's not hard to analyse which managers out there get more than the sum of their parts and have managed in challenging leagues. Brighton manage it and they are TINY in comparison.

The situations wer create are crap.
We're not fluffing sitters. We're just about getting into half chance territory.

You genuinely are deluding yourself if you think this shit we're being served up is going to suddenly change.

We're a few games away from the players giving up at the moment. And then it's all over.
As soon as they don't buy into it, he's finished.
Being a Tottenham fan you can sense when a manager is almost done its happened so often. I hadnt felt that about Ange until yesterday but all the signs were there, players going through the motions even in a NL derby, manager looking almost disinterested on the touchline tetchy, delusional post match interview. Probably got to the October international break to turn it around but if we play the same way we wont. Not even sure we'll beat Brentford. Think people thinking he's got to the end of the season are way off. Just not how we operate. Hoddle, Santini, Jol, AVB, Ramos, Poch, Nuno all been sacked in the autumn.

By the way this is all on the board, again. Utterly shit transfer window, no real improvements on the first team other than maybe Solanke and i'm far from convinced by him. If they're going to sell get the fuck on with it as they're killing the club.

For those saying we need to give the manager time, yesterday we started 10/11 of the players he had last year.

He's not giving time to players we paid chunks of cash for that he says he wanted or were first choice. The rhetoric and language around training is that the coaches are "amazed" by Bergvall and Gray. So why are they not starting?

The lion's share of the game time is being awarded to players that have already been with the manager for a year. It's not clicking.

He's stubborn, only has one way of playing and is inflexible. We don't prepare for the opposition, only for our way of playing and it both shows and has been countered effectively for almost all of the last 34 league games except for an outlier against 10 man Villa and teams at the bottom of the table.

He's fucking done, and limping to the November international break will only make it worse.

Brentford. United. West Ham. Palace. Villa.

How many points do we reckon? We then have Ipswich before the break, with City the first league game back.

Time to go.
Posted I think by Celtic fans after we got him that he’s got a starting eleven and sticks with it barring suspensions or injuries he’s ridged and doesn’t change

It's going one way with Postecoglou.

The direction of travel is clear for all to see. 4 points from 12 is poor. No glossing that at all.

Our group of players, whatever their limitations are not producing to their optimum and not being implanted with the right mentality.

That's the job of a manager.

Won't be a discussion for too much longer at this rate.

In a way good the games are coming thick and fast now. For one we need to put a run together so it's do or die for Ange.
Also I'm getting tired of seeing Son, Romero, Bentancur and Maddison, our senior players really underperforming so it will be nice to see Gray, Bergvall, hopefully Micky or Lankshear later, see what they really are in a competitive game.
As for Ange personally I think Levy wouldn't pull the trigger until we're out of Europe.
And at the end of the day I think Ange has done a decent work rebuilding this team and steadying the ship and if he was to fail short and leave at the end I'll still think I'll give him some credit for that. Maybe we will just have to push forward with another attacking menager.

I’ve loved Sonny at Tottenham but I don’t enjoy watching him anymore. There’s nothing exciting or explosive about him anymore.

Let Mikey Moore have some time on the pitch in these next three or four games and see if he’s up to it. Maybe not start but get him on with 20/30 mins to go. It might give Sonny a jolt and it lets us see if Mikey can step up without a loan.

I reckon levy had doubts in the summer and it affected spending.

And by the looks of it, he was probably right.

I wonder how happy Eddie Howe actually is at Newcastle? He was making some noise in the window that he didn't get what he wanted. If they're legitimately hamstrung by PSR, then maybe there's a chance?

I'm interested in Iraola. Unlike Postecoglou, he seems to be able to get more than the sum of his teams parts out of them.

In fact, should we be looking at Spain as a whole? Pep, Emery, Iraola, they all seem to be able to get something.
Yes, City are financially doped, we all know it. But the City academy has been bringing through players who get 1st team football and even international call ups.
While we churn out the likes of Winks, Skipp, etc.
Villa do not have a better squad than us but they're a better team. Why?
Bournemouth obviously aren't going to win the league, staying in it is a positive. So being comfortable is an achievement.

I genuinely cannot see us getting in the top 8 this season. And that would be an enormous failure.

I'd say it's on the board for getting Ange in the first instance.

Cheap, unproven yes man.
I said at the time you don't get to nearly 60 without ever being looked at if you're actually good.
He had no buyout clause. Probably earns half or less of what Mourinho and Conte earned, was so happy to get a big job that he fell over himself to get here.

And a lot of fans were happy with that.

Liverpool beat Utd 3-0, all from situations we create regularly when their press turned them over high up the pitch.

We did that about 10 times against Newcastle and we had 3 or 4 against the gooners. Solanke’s chance being the clearest. Those situations are meant to be the bread and butter of a pressing team and our forwards inexplicable keep fucking them up.

Outside of those, we definitely aren’t creating enough and the chemistry between the front 3 isn’t working. We aren’t confident or in form up front. The Coventry game is probably a good opportunity to start Solanke again to get him some confidence and rhythm.
Mate. Why even compare us to Liverpool?

Our forwards are not fit to lace the boots of theirs.

They have ruthless killers up top and we don't. Of course we are not converting these "situations".

And this isn't something that can be changed/improved outside of a transfer window.

Ange wasn't first choice.

This is the crux for me.

The big issue is Levy/board/ENIC here, Ange is the symptom, not the cause.

If we are realistic that they aren't going anywhere for a while then the best we can expect is a manager who can work to make something more that the sum of its parts. Is this Iraola? I'm not qualified to say obviously.

I don't think Ange lasts out 2024/25.

Very telling was the hubris, doubling down on the "I win something in year two" junk. That was deeply revealing psychology. Letting him self get boxed back into it, because you can't face the adult reality of changed circumstances. That was magic thinking. Very very worrying.
100%.

He's feeling the pressure and lashing out. He basically knows he won't be able to deliver after all his bravado and it's pissing him off.

Ange won't get to November.

We have a tricky set of fixtures to negotiate and I'm not confident we will see more than 6 points in the next five games. That would be 10 points or so from 9 games. Add into it our latter season form and it's relegation level numbers. A point a game.

To turn this slow start around we have to beat Brentford away (which we didn't do last year), United away (which we didn't do last year), West Ham at home (which we didn't do last year), Brighton away (which we didn't do last year) and Villa at home (which you guessed it, we didn't do last year).

The same fixtures last year saw us yield just three points.

Having no buy out clause seems to be the deciding factor on who they appoint. I was ok with trying something different but its not working.

7/10 window according to some on here.

Yeah I think this will prove very sound.

Where I agree with the optimists like Richard Arlison Richard Arlison is that IF Ange fails we will have tried basically everything. Chequebook manager, project, prospect etc. Can anything work under Levynomics?

I am repeating myself now, but I honestly think the best we can hope for under ENIC is a PL proven manager with a thick skin who can make a team more than the sum of its parts.
