Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The issue isn't Ange ball in and off itself as much as it is specific elements of it.

In particular the seeming requirement to only score one type of goal. It makes us a bit one dimensional. And similarly with passing in the middle of the pitch. We want to play very specific passes and allow the play to slow down so we can play them.

If Ange just tweaks some elements in his football, but keeps to the core philosophy of it. A lot of the grumbling about it is going to go away.
Great post by the way

100% agree with you on that at the moment we are a bit one dimensional

we always look to pass out wide in the build up and it makes us predictable nothing wrong with Ange ball itself just needs a few tweaks and for some of the newer recruits to start gelling into the side and things will be sweet.

Yeah. The system is pretty one dimensional and once the other teams figured it out it meant that we will struggle to convert unless we just have that much more quality like against Everton.

Just adapt elements of it and it will give us some more results. There will probably still be a gap between us and the top of the league. But it will be better.

The worst thing that you can be at this level is one dimensional in attack.

He could have said no to Werner and demanded better. I sympathise with managers having to accept any old tat at the end of the window if its them or no one but not signing off on Werner in early June. That one Is on him.
TBH we don't know the transfer policy and the communications between Levy and Ange.
But hard to believe Ange wanted Wermer on the evidence of last season's performances. No ambitious manager wants such player in the squad. Let's be honest, Wermer is a nice guy who wants to live in London but a useless player. Ange deserves the sack if he really asked Levy to re-sign him on loan.

Why is anyone who has the temerity to question the manager, tactics, choices or otherwise, “so called” fans. Fucking sick of self righteous, holier than thou posters questioning the validity of others.
Say what you want pal its a forum at the end of the day

Im 40 years deep with spurs ive seen so many managers come and go over the years and including Ange i can only count 5 managers in those 40 years who have been good for the club.

I back this manager 100% to turn the tide

Whether you do or not is up to you i dont give a fuck but i aint self righteous you prick

Our biggest area we needed to address in the last window was a quality technical right winger. We have one winger that can only go on the outside (Johnson) and one winger that can only goto the inside (Kulu).

We badly needed a tricky 2 way right winger, instead we bought another left winger who is only 19 and spunked most of our budget on another striker whilst Sonny and Richie were both ruthless last season. The big money should have been spent on that star right winger and now it's hurting us.

We pass out wide our wide players are not quite good enough and they get little support from our attacking fullbacks because they have come infield.

If we just fine tune things a bit I think that we could get more out of Son and Johnson on the wing. Drop a little bit deeper without going full defensive ball and let the centre mids ping longer balls for Johnson and Son to run on to. Whilst still keeping the core ideas of Angeball in the matter of possession and attacking. But we work with what we have.

I reckon that Johnson and Son would be better if the fullbacks stayed wide sometimes, it means they can be the ones cutting inside and be better positioned to have shots on goal. linking up with Maddison etc, if anything Porro and Udogie are getting in the way of our attacking players.

Yep. Fans got obsessed with Son not being a centre forward and he isnt but he's a damned sight better at CF than he is as a winger. We had Moore as a prospect on the left, then signed Werner for the left, then signed Odobert who mainly plays on the left. The biggest problem we have is our 2 starting wingers in Son and Johnson cant beat a man, have no tricks so we're so easy to defend against. Really bizzare transfer window but whats new.

There is nothing we needed more than a striker, it was the most important piece we needed and we spent big on that.

I have no idea how you can look at Richarlison (crocked already after 20 minutes of action) and think we didn’t need a replacement.

Pathetic. Let's just keep sacking our managers after a season or so. That will work.
This is what baffles my mind that people are still 100% defending him.

Teams allowing us the ball, giving us the stats that look like progression. Our XG is crap as we don’t create clear-cut chances, while opponents just suck it up and score from a corner or a breakaway. 4 out of 12 points

It’s a rebuild “again” be patient 😂

Not worth getting annoyed over. Either he wins some games and shows improvement in the next few weeks or we carry on as we have been over the last few months and he'll be sacked. Us banging on either way on here is just shouting into a void. Levy might not give a shit about competing for a title but his ego wont like us schlepping around in 10th or 11th in October or November. He has a stadium to fill.

Exactly. It’s the set in the ways aspect to Ange that makes me think he will be gone this season. Sad, because he has some of what it takes
Well if teams are going to be parking the bus and then picking us off on breakaways or set pieces, we need to make changes such as get Porro and Udogie overlapping on the wings and allow Johnson and Son to get nearer the goal. Also we rarely seem to get free kicks in dangerous areas because our forwards are stuck out on the wings.

I don't see why we always have to have inverted fullbacks?

No other manager will do better when they have to choose from Son on current sh!t form, Kulu, Brennon, Wermer and the youngsters signings of the summer. The mid is no better.

Yesterday against woolwich, Ange took off Brennon, Bent and whoever and brought on Wilson, Wermer and Sarr. Who on earth expected anything significant from the subs?!

To make matters worse, Woolwich had 2 decent forwards to bring on in Sterling and Jesus.

I think Son is finished. We have to rely on Solanke to deliver but he needs support from donkeys around him.

With Bergval sitting on the bench!!

What must he have been thinking watching Werner for the rest of the game and that’s down to Ange!

People are going to hate this comparison, but Arteta had similar issues early at Woolwich. But he was given time (in parts because of a FA cup, in parts because of Covid) to iron out his style of football and adapt. And now they are reaping the benefits.

Hopefully Ange is given the time to make those adaptations that he needs to make. But after a NLD loss I understand some people losing faith and speaking in affect.
Agree with you once again.

It does seem mad talking about anybody connected to Woolwich but Arteta is a prime example of patience when undertaking a project in football management:

Hes made very unpopular decisions which have split the dressing room
Moved on the big Charlie's who helped him win the cup
Played football his way
Integrated youth and instilled his own ideas on how the game should be played
Brought in key players in key areas (maybe paying huge fees for some _ Rice)
Everyone has bought into his philosophy
But the past couple of seasons is where the real lessons have been learned from being a nearly side (finishing top 4) to being genuine title contenders just those little tweaks the past couple of seasons have really set him apart.

Big Ange will get the best out of this side and he will adapt his tactics to showcase our strengths
