Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Very detailed response there to an opinion - cheers.
You're welcome.
Play and control of games has changed - 100% we still can't fashion or finish enough chances (no upgrades in wide positions a big factor in this)
What manager says hes not happy with the window - even Conte did that.
You think we HAVE properly backed the manager then with three teenagers from lower divisions yeah?
I think the window was shite - Ange says different though.
Poch style of play didn't change during the two years we were statistically the best team in the country - we didn't win anything regardless.
Which was my point to you.
We can't go out early in all three cups - won't know for months about europa.
We have 4 games in the EL in the next 51 days, less then 2 months, think we'll have an idea of what might happen by then.
What do you suggest then sack him now and get another scapegoat in?
Nope. I already posted my thoughts on that earlier in the other thread...

We signed Solanke and three teenagers from lower divisions - would you have expected him to start Berg, Odebert and Gray in the NLD then - genuine question, not takin the piss?
We haven't got the players to even be in the question of a top four race let alone title race or have genuine aspirations of beating that Woolwich team.
So if Ange had any balls he'd have called the window for what it was....instead of limp wristedly fluffing his boss and claiming he was happy with our business.

Not as simple as that John as you know hes not a spurs fan like us who would demand better from the club and also he doesn't want to damage his new young players confidence by saying it was a shite window.

Hilarious how people keep peddling this 4 game narrative

Anyone with an IQ higher than their finger count can see this isn't a 4 game issue
And anyone with an IQ higher than their little toe can see that multiple areas of our play have improved on the latter part of last season, from our control of matches, our ability to limit transitions, the quantity of chances we're conceding, and yes, even our set piece defending (1 set piece goal conceded in 4 games due to an individual error)

The issue is that our decision making in the final third and finishing hasn't shown the same improvements, and until it does, we'll struggle to win matches. It has to improve and sharpish.

There's that word again

If you were hoping for signs of a manager cracking up under pressure, you might be disappointed.

Also not the caption trying to make he's angry when he's clearly in a light-hearted jovial mood. Sky Sports aren't your friend if you are a Spurs fan.

One thing that struck me the other day was that during the time we've conceded 18 set piece goals, Villa have conceded 17. Now I get that Postecoglou dismissed concerns over that and the media jumped on him for it, but it's still interesting that despite there being practically no difference between what the clubs have conceded, for one it's become this huge ongoing narrative, while for the other you never seem to hear a peep about it. Odd.

Vicario
Romero- Dragusin-VDV
Porro-Bissouma-Udgoie
Maddison-Bergvall
Richie-Solanke

Porro and Udogie are WBs in this system

Tbh, I think that team cld be in the mix right behind City
you know the funny thing with it all when people say whos out there bla bla bla. youve come up with this as its the best system for the players we have! getting managers in that are wedded to a system is nonsense as its never going to work for us, we need someone who adapts to what he has and designs a system to get the best from the players available.

this system with actual wingbacks and 3 CB's and 2 strikers is by far imo the best we can do right now! so we need a manager that isnt wedded to a system and actually thinks whats best for the players available.

some of these managers make out football is rocket science, it really aint. a lot of it is just having people that have good judgement and know what they are doing. it aint rocket science. for what weve got right now the side youve put up would make us harder to beat and if the wing backs actually get the ball in the box you got two units in there that will thrive off the service and cause havoc! it shits all over what this treble winning celtic mug can come up with.

if lego head was using son and johnson in his system as possession based wide players wed be laughing our head off and singing for him to stay.

and in the summer when romero goes, the system would have to adapt and change again and probably go back to a 4 at the back as you arent replacing romero next year, so youd have to adapt and come up with something fresh.

That basically never works unless your Real Madrid.

Absolutely

Same goes for Villa’s high line. They are conceding plenty more than us this season but somehow Emery isn’t naive. I guess because he’s European.

That Solanke chance was the one, the one and only chance where I felt they fucked up (under our pressure) and were genuinely exposed to threat.
What they did though was no different at all than any lower level team putting everyone behind the ball and relying on breaks and corners to score. The only difference is that even the better teams will do it. Not because that's how they want to play, but because they know it's an extremely effective way to to beat us. I'd say executing that plan and sticking to it gives teams easily a higher than 50/50 chance of success against us. We may score from the odd Solanke chance like that, but we'll give up enough ourselves for them to score.
I doubt very much Arse would have continued the plan had we scored. That's the thing. When a team is chasing a goal, then watch how much we dominate possession etc.

Watch the game back, we turned them over like that at least 2 more times that high up and somehow failed to make the easy pass to get a really high percentage chance.

Same in the second half when we were all over them with the press. The Newcastle game was even worse. I have no idea how we didn’t score in the second half from one of those high turnovers

Nah I’m sorry, I love him

“To sit down and write something abusive anonymously… say it in front of me, you’ll get a punch on the nose, you won’t do it again, mate. But they won’t do that. They’ll hide behind this…”

That whole article is full of quotes that cut exactly to the point on so many issues people talk about in here and on socials.

Sadly most of them don’t have the attention span to read it, nor do they have the open-mindedness to take on board any of what he’s explaining to them.

I agree that Klopp could be insufferable and was often a poor sport, but winning is a great cologne, as the saying goes.
Yeah, he had that going for him at the end for sure. Up and down first year or two though. Personally think we’re easy for the media to try and unsettle because our fans buy it and lap it up. Spurs fans are a precious set of fans on the whole.
