Match Tottenham Hotspur v Qarabağ FK | Thursday 26th Sept | Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Perhaps. But you get fuck all in comparison for winning the league cup. You get champions league for this.

There's a select few fixtures on the calendar where you can utilise your squad. Qarabag at home, regardless of competition, is one of them. That's not being disrespectful to them or taking them for granted, it's recognising we have a squad, we play a taxing style of football and we have a pretty big game at Old Trafford coming up.

That's not to say go full Coventry. I thinks Ange knows that was a bad day at the office (he's said as much) - but he's not going to be afraid to use this squad that he's slowly put together, I imagine he trusts every one of them to do a job.

We can go strong without having to play Son, Porro, Bissouma etc. Youve just got to get the balance right.

Right now, I'd take any win without getting injuries. Even rotating for Coventry saw us lose a player for 2 months.

No, but we should treat it with the same respect.

You cannot give it the Billy big bollocks about winning trophies and then field weakened teams. It's asking for trouble. Had we treated this (and the conference) with a little more respect we might have found ourselves with a trophy or two. Even fucking West Ham managed to win the conference...

Changing your line up isn't disrespecting the competition. It's keeping players match fit, match sharp and giving them the opportunity to stake a claim in the team.

Lowering your level of performance and taking the game for granted on the pitch however is disrespectful - and I've seen that from seasoned pros and international footballers, not just "back up options"

I think Coventry was a wake up call.

Coventry-type performances have been happening for years I don't think it's a wake up call. It's just a natural result of making too many changes and having a set B-team.

I think we have plenty of positions in the team which we could rotate more to create less of an A and B team and instead regularly make 4-5 changes.

Eventually we need to give the likes of Spence, Gray, Bergvall, Dragusin the chance to start PL games and not just be the guys for cup games against "weak" opposition.

We look most light in attack now with Odobert out. Nothing much beyond Johnson/Solanke/Son unless Ange starts getting brave with Moore.

But elsewhere on the pitch I think we could and should be rotating more often.

You never go full Coventry.

:cautious:

He was absolutely, fucking, strikingly bad. Gave the ball away to a Coventry player in the first minute leading to their first shot on target, rushed out and clattered Dragusin which could have been a goal were it not for heroics from Davies. Dropped a number of simple catches and looked like he had never played the position before.

The save Vic made Saturday for the header - Forster gets nowhere near that.

Vic is having a bad time and got away with a huge error Saturday - but we need to stick by him, absolutely no one was calling for a keeper upgrade in the summer
I'm in no way saying his better than Vic but I think we need him up to speed in case of a Vic injury. Missed the first minutes so didnt se that mistake.

We should beat Quarabag with him in goal.

Agree. He made a couple of mistakes in his 1st game back for a year but he also made a few good saves and did well at corners.
He was not appaling vs Coventry as a couple here are suggesting.

Hard to see Ange picking a decent side for tis, especially with Spence not even in the EL squad list.

I expect him to play a team like this:

Forster

Gray --- Draguson --- Davies ---- Udogie

Bissouma

Sarr ------ Bergvall

Moore --- Lankshear ---- Son

No need for wholesale changes
Vicario needs more game time to sharpen up
Porro to start - if comfortable bring Gray on
Drag has to come in for suspended Romero
I'd keep in Micky and hopefully he gets to come off early if we're comfortable
Udogie - again needs game time to sharpen up

Biss -needs game time
Sarr/Bergvall
Kulu or Madders - only played short stint v Cov so one of them can start (hopefully a half each?)

Werner (yeah I know but its inevitable) - BJ to come on aganst weary legs for 20-30 and keep that confidence going
Solanke - get more minutes in to sharpen him up. Would love him to bag a couple then make way for Lankshear
Son - needs to find form. Mikey Moore to take his place for last 20-30

Realise thats a lot of subs!

Problem is that Forster may look like he’s never played kpr for our first team. The bloke who might replace him definitely has never played competitively for our first team. Austin the name.
We are stuck with Forster. Just heard on the radio that Kaylor Navas is a free agent at the moment Not sure if we could sign him for Europe but certainly could for prem lge.
Room in both squads if rules allow.

What we want: whatever lineups each one of us thinks works best

What's going to happen: Ange puts out who he wants, they don't score in the first half, we shit all over Ange and the squad during the break then Werner comes on in the 89th and scores.
