Better right back for us than Walker? I think so. Maybe a bit of recency bias is creeping in and maybe I need to reflect further on this.

My previous posts will attest I was a Walker fanboy, it is important to mention that as I spent a fair amount of time defending him from people getting sucked into the vortex of false narratives surrounding him.

Walkers reputation seemed to mirror how Spurs as a club performed.

Rated highly when we were flying under Redknapp.
Was called a liability during AVB and Sherwood days.
Rated again when we were flying under Pochettino.

But even then, his pace always always got him out of danger.

I actually think he's improved massively at City, especially defensively. But Walker got the most abuse in the stands of any Spurs player I can remember in the last 15 years or so.

I remember bus-conductor bus-conductor being especially fond of him back in his SC days 😂

Good shout.

Never improved at City IMO, just played inverted in his first season which blew the brains of commentators and pundits and of course because it’s Pep his halo means he gets sucked off with improving every player. Outside of his first, maybe 2nd season (I can’t remember now) he then played as their deepest defender and used to cover counter attacks because play so high up the pitch. Never in danger because he has the pace, odd that narrative isn’t applied to VdV.

I think it’s the same at England national team too, we’ve had some great RB’s over the years but can’t name a better one, certainly in my lifetime.

TAA, Porro, maybe Trippier but not these days.
Those are the only 3 RBs in the prem who have that pass in the bag.

In La Liga? I’m struggling to think of one.

Bundesliga I don’t watch so maybe someone else knows?
Frodo NEVER plays that pass because he NEVER takes the ball and opens up his body to face up the pitch, always played the ball back the direction it came (the direction he was facing) when in his own half. Because he shits himself when pressed he became the target and trigger of most oppo presses.
