Match Europa League - vs AZ Alkmaar - 24/10

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Indeed, but games like Galatasaray away are bloody horrendous in terms of difficulty and recovery.

Win the first 3, rest against Gala, take 4 points from Roma and Rangers and that will leave us with 13 points and Hoffenheim away and Elfsborg at home where we should be able to get at least 4 more points. And a top 8 finish
Yes and away matches at Chelsea and Liverpool invariably end in defeat. So let’s play the under 21’s in those matches. It would not be good for the kids to get hammered and ruin our goal difference. Ange has said he wants to win every match and playing the under21’s would be admitting defeat in advance.
Yes this match will be difficult but not because of the strength of Galatasaray’s team but because of the hostile atmosphere. That’s why you need experienced Internationals like Romero to play.

I'm gonna be on holiday for the next 3 games (sorry, not sorry)
I always struggle getting anything to work on my tablet through links/streams etc and the native apps like SkyGo etc are region locked.

Can anyone recommend a good, reliable VPN that'll work on multiple devices to let me watch these games on the relevant apps?
i tried using a paid for VPN on my last holiday and it didnt even work (still blocked due to location). the only thing i know that works is an app called smarters player, but you need a sub with a firestick skin to have an account to use it as its username and password to get in.

If this game was away Werner would be the first name on my team sheet but after Saturday I think the fans could be on his back if (when?) he fecks up.
Of course Ange won't give a feck about that so this game could be seminal for Werner. I have a good feeling he will perform well and get a goal or assist.

Not around where I sit. If anything it was the opposite and we wanted him to get a goal Saturday.

does Son need to start to build more minutes in his legs or come on as a sub? Maybe Moore to start and give Son 30
Maddison can start as only did 45 at the weekend.
Dragusin, Gray and Bergvall could do with minutes. Gray to start and Bergvall off the bench I guess
Who needs the most rest? Kulu, VDV, BJ?

It's risk-reward isn't it.

There's plenty of factors favouring a strong starting line-up without overloading our players:
  • Home game
  • A favourable Saturday-Thursday-Sunday draw
  • Maddison played just 45 and Son 70 on Saturday
  • Good rest in previous international break for Son, Maddison, Solanke, Bentancur
  • Weather forecast 15°C, no rain
The potential reward of a convincing win is a bit of a safety margin re qualification, which may mean less pressure to play someone who's close to burning out in a later round.

So I'd be surprised to see more than 2 or 3 changes from Saturday's lineup, with the guys that need minutes getting a run in the second half:
Vicario
Gray Dragusin vdVen Udogie
Bentancur
Kulu Maddison
Johnson Solanke Son

Hopefully decent minutes off the bench for Richarlison, Bergvall, Moore and Sarr.

that looks about right to me. Maybe Moore instead of Son with Son to come on for 30 or so

If it's just for fitness, I'd bring him on for half hour at the end if we're comfortable.
Don't want him overstretching for something.

Some VPNs work and some don’t. Also Sky play whack-a-mole with them, so some that did work suddenly don’t and then do again when a new version is released.

I think go strong for this one, get points on the board.
There will be away games further down the line that we can rest first teamers for...

But we don't wanna be travelling to Istanbul NEEDING a win, cos that's when we get caught either playing the first team to get the result, and risking injury...
Or playing kids to save the first team, and get a costly hiding!

Points on the board asap please... Then we can fuck about with the squad later on.

So if we went weak but won the other 7 league games you would have a problem?

I wouldn’t go weak at Gala because I am afraid of them - it’s just a very inconvenient fixture when the rest of this period is all in London.

I would snap your hands off for 4 league wins, beating Man City in the cup, beating AZ no injuries and getting tonked 7-0 in Istanbul - I would be cock a hoop.

Yes we want to avoid the first knockout round, but we can lose to Gala and still do that

Gala away is undoubtedly the toughest EL fixture...... As someone already said; it's a pretty cruel move to just send all the kids out there as cannon-fodder though.

Yeah seems to me like Vicario, Gray, Dragusin, Bergvall and Sarr are the EL guarantees.

Hopefully Moore is becoming one too. That's over half the starting eleven.

Mix that in with the experienced heads and you're doing the Europa League right at this stage.

Richarlison won't start yet. We will be building up his minutes. Hopefully he can play 30/35 mins gere to give solanke a breather with the idea being that Richarlison can start the cup game against City next week. My guess of the team would be as below

Vicario
Gray Dragusin Davies Udogie
Bergval Bentancur Maddison
Werner Solanke Moore

Son only back from injury so we need to mind him too. Moore played 90 mins and was arguably our best player in the last EL game so would seem very unfair not to start him. Werner gets 60 mins to show something or he'll be hooked for Brennan.

It'll be a close decision on who to rest between VDV and Udogie but VDV played twice for Holland recently and I imagine Spence will play the City game next week so Udogie will get his rest then

Almost a full squad to choose from.

And 2 squads we've played against similar ranked clubs, so we know we can rest a lot of players yet play a strong enough starting X1 with strength on bench should we need it. That way we have a fairly rested squad for not only the weekend but the following 7 days where we play Mancity,, Villa and Galatasaray

So Gray in for Porro, Dragusin needs a run out and not sure Romero has excelled recently, whilst Van de Ven's hamstrings needs to prepare for future matches so Davies starts. Udogie starts (he played little in international break) with a view that Spence can play at weekend.

Maddison only played 45 mins v Wham so starts, whilst Bergvall and Bentancur are fully rested : Sarr can feel a little hard by ? Up front Moore and Lankshear started the last EL game, only real question is who also starts - I think Son as captain with Richarlison coming in on in 2nd half.

So deep a squad, that no room on bench for Werner and Kulusevski - but wouldn't surprise me if another youngster is on the bench with another more experienced player has a completely rested evening.

Vicario
Gray, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie
Bergvall, Bentancur, Maddison
Moore, Lankshear Son

Subs : Forster, Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Bissouma, Sarr, Solanke, Johnson, Richarlison

Not included : Werner, Kulusevski
