What a great signing this guy has shown to be so far- I'm so, so glad we signed him and not any of our rivals. At first I wasn't sure we needed him, but now I feel it was almost a stroke of genius to go after him. Pushing Richarlison squarely into a backup ST/LW role was a fantastic way to bolster our attacking depth and shore up our attacking rotation. I really applaud the recruitment team for identifying Big Dom as our top summer target, and I'm kind of still blown away that we were able to get him!

Solanke is a pressing machine. He’s exceptionally good at it. He did it brilliantly for Bournemouth.
It’s a large part of the reason we bought him…he suits this style of play to a tee.

Oh. Ok. I could very well be wrong. I didn't watch him at Bournemouth at all. He just appeared labourious while running. Like he hasn't been used to that sort of stuff and like he's going out of his way to put that work in. But perhaps that's just the way he usually runs. I could totally be mistaken. Perhaps he totally has it in himself to be a great, great runner and presser.
That was a great finish for the first goal. And he certainly didn't run out of gas for that second goal he scored.

He does it very well. And it's a definite skill. You need to know when to press, where, which side, and so on. It needs intelligence and common sense. Someone like Lamela was poor at it. He'd run like a lunatic at anyone with the ball even if a team mate was already on the case. And if it was City they'd have an immediate overload up the pitch and a chance to score.What are you talking about?

DS is the real deal.
If anyone is made for pressing, it's clearly Solanke. The guy got two goals despite pressing the whole game and was still trying to score at the end when we were 4-1 up.

But not all players in all positions need to run the same amount. And not all teams are built with the purpose of running and pressing so much. And then there are also players who are great at running but less so at other things. And then there are also those who are great at those other things but not so much at running.

Just hoping his boss & teammates now realise there's other ways to score than that run to the byline & cross to the 6 yard box. Keep feeding him and he'll get 15-20 in the PL easy.
15 league goals would be an excellent return for him, given all the other things he brings to the team.
But feel he has got 18-20 in him, if things really click. Noticed he was almost bundling in the Johnson goal also. Maybe the timing and movement is being worked on in the training ground as noticeable he was in great positions yesterday as balls came in to the box

Agree, could have easily snatched at it and sure it still may have gone in but the stylish composure he showed was as you say classy and can only bode well for the rest of the season and beyond.
Really impressed by his attitude and workrate, but he’s definitely got the goals in him too…

He was the best pressing forward in the league last year. Its not a perhaps. It's reality.
