Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He's just the latest next ex-manager in a long line of managers who fail.

One of my issues with Postecoglou is that he is perhaps too confident. Like, he acts like he is among the very most successful of world managers. Like he might over-rotate because that's what the very top managers do. My fear is that the very top managers tend to have 1. Better squads and 2. A bit better and more sound tactical set-ups. That's just one of my potential concerns with him. But I still do like the fact that he is like that. I would sure not want some manager who thinks he is not among the very top managers in world football getting hired by the club.

ps Among and within the group of very top managers I personally only consider Guardiola and Klopp.
I see it as he has won everywhere he goes and he has faith in his abilities and he is willing to die on that hill, fair enough it might not work out but I prefer to have a manager saying he expects us to win rather then saying we are just "little old Tottenham" and we can't compete with the big boys!

Not meant as a Dig but have any of the Ange out lot , not those sitting on the fence, the Ange out regardless lot been to any games this season at the Lane?
I only ask as sitting in the south stand Sunday hearing thousands of Yids sing Ange's name made the hairs on my neck tingle, obviously it helped that we won the game and played well the second half but after the shite we have put up with and still won fuck all over the seasons, if you can't get behind a manager who actually wants to entertain us then whats the point?
Yes we look a bit suspect at times defensively, and yes we could end up winning fuck all again under his tenure but if we are always glass half empty what is the point - there will come a time as a club where we actually need to just stick with a manager and not change every couple of years as we haven't won anything!
As much stick as Levy gets, as a club we have started to improve on our signings last few years, we are signing young exciting players who want to play attacking football , I have never been excited about a Spurs side as I was watching us romp home every game in our last season at the lane, if i hadn't already lost my house, car and Caravan on previous bets I would be betting them all that we win something under Ange , I also think this team is going to start peaking at the right time when Man City are no longer as dominant - the future is bright , have some faith!

Got a few bits wrong last night. First time we face a decent side in the comp and we're well beaten...forget the final score, shoulda conceded 8 or 9, we were that shocking.

Oh well, we go again.

He got the midfield wrong, I think we needed to start Sarr or Benantcuar alongside Biss - Our midfield was massivley over run and we were already playing a make shift defence , obvioulsy I don't know how fit the players are and who needs resting but Maddison and Bergvail were useless yesterday.

Galatasaray have lost twice at home in two seasons and we were not at full strength. Thanks for ensuring you acknowledged those factors in your post though.

Start a bit stronger and we win tbf.

Start stable, keep the rhythm from the last game and establish yourself.

Then think about resting players for the next game, as we go.

Can't go to that cauldron that diluted.

Wouldn't take our position in the table for granted.

Poch last season didn't really show anything until the last few months at Chelsea and if you compare to Chelsea now they look much better now under Maresca, time has moved on since 2017...not sure Poch is on that level anymore tbh.

There's a reason why he's managing USA now.
However he did get the better of Ange in both their meetings.
And like you said, after the first 6 months he had them cooking and Maresca is building on the foundations he laid.
It's all a matter of opinions I guess. But if both managers were available and another big job became available in England or Europe , I think Poch would be the more likely candidate to land it.

Yes my man. Got the first 11 wrong. You know for a fact you gonna go through hell vs Gala at their ground, especially early doors. So you send your best boys and older heads out there, especially in the middle of the park. Kill their momentum and shut the crowd up from the off, keep the score real tight til HT, come back strong for the 2nd, then around the 60-70 min mark, that's when you bring on your Bergvall, Lankshear & co. Don't even get me started on our No 10.

No shame either in changing the system when away at a strong side. I'm not saying we should've parked the bus a la Jose, but that's foolish from Ange going to Istanbul with the usual 4-3-3 knowing one of the CM was Mads.

And that playing out from the back at all costs, I mean...Hoddle was losing his shit last night and rightly so. We kept giving it away again & again, but did Ange ask the lads to mix it up and go long to relieve the pressure? Nope. Man's way too stubborn.

Loads on here and in the real world will give him a pass cause we lost only 3-2, but that was a pretty shocking HC shift the big man put in last night. Once again he got outwitted by a man half his age.

So did Gary O' Neill. :)

I'm not sure it's the same foundations either, Poch played Chalobah and Gallagher whilst they're not at the club anymore, they're creating more and look more fluid.

I don't think I'd trust Poch the same way that I trusted him 6 years ago, game has kinda moved on now.

''HC shift'' what's that?

How are we comparing them? Because Chavs were shit under Poch in the first few months like you said, but as you strongly advocate, it takes time for a manager to figure out which players he will use, which tactics, etc.

I guess Maresca had some foundations laid down by Poch and it must’ve been easier to transition to his system.
