Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I get Levy is the main issue at this club and will be until he finally fucks off but Redknapp and Poch have proved you can still produce good, competitive sides even with the limitations. They lasted 3.5 and 5.5 years. Its possible that incompetent in charge stumbles on something, it will be more luck than judgement but its possible. Its clear Ange isnt the answer so roll the dice.
As you say those 2 managers were more luck than judgement

Redknapp had bale, modric, van der vaart, king, even fringe players like Kranjcar who are genuinely better than anyone we have now

Poch had Kane, dele, dembele, jan, Toby, rose, walker, the list is pretty endless actually

We got lucky that some of our punts turned out good

No one from the current squad gets into any of their teams in my opinion

Spot on mate.

Some of the best defenders don’t actually do a lot, they instead form a great shape and structure that makes conceding less likely.

As you say, we are far too desperate to turn the ball over. I honestly think if we can change that we’ll see drastic improvement in results.
We won't though. We look like we don't practice defending.

Yeah but prior to Poch being appointed Rose was getting dogs abuse, Walker was king brain fart, Vertonghen was accused of being lazy and disinterested, Dembele was always half fit and looked pretty ordinary, Kane had started 2 first team matches. A good manager took the raw materials and sorted them out, improved them and moulded a team. No players are improving now, several going backwards fast.

So what do you think of the Benchmark Citeh?
4 losses in a row?

Yeah and it’s a massive crisis for them. Same for Real Madrid and Woolwich.

Defeat is both accepted and expected at this club, that’s the difference. If any of those clubs had lost 10 out of 18 league matches they would change the manager.

Ange has been living a charmed life up till now because Ten Hag was attracting most of the sack talk despite winning two trophies. Now he’s been binned attention will fall on Ange and he has to find solutions. Or he will also be sacked.

Fair point

Way i see it, no trophy or top 4 hes gone. Yesterday waa the pits.
We shouldn't wait that long.
If people behind the scenes aren't drawing up a list now, and actually making calls, I'd be astonished.
The players are on the cusp of throwing the towel in.

You only need to look at the change around at United after they sacked ETH.
When the players lose faith in the coach, it's game over for the coach. Always has been, always will be.
I doubt our players want to be humiliated by comical tactic flaws every week.

I don’t think he’s crap, and I don’t want him sacked

I’m just saying to all the ange outers, it’ll be the same shit different day with a new manager. Might aswell stick this one out and see if he can somehow stumble on a cup

If we got Iraola in we’d be having this same conversation in 18 months, I’m bored of it all

You don't think the results for the past year under Ange have been crap? Was Palace, Brighton and Ipswich not crap? I'm curious what you are seeing which makes you think he is worth persevering with.

Iraola might fail, he might not. What IS clear is Ange has been a failure. I'm bored of Ange, and everything that comes with him tbh.

Why didnt ange hook johnson off. Anonymous. Maddison came on last 8 minutes. What was the purpose of that.

these idiots that want this buffoon actually deserve to support such a shit team. he could stink it out for another 3 years and they still wouldnt learn. if they havent worked it out by now then they never will. 'we just need the better players for his suicide system to work thats what it is'. the irony is he could have the best 11 in the world and this system would still fail, its what youd expect a 9 year old to come up with on a football game.

its the same idiots that agree on all the dumb shit too. think son was a good choice as captain, post johnson G/A stats and try tell you hes a good player. want romero dropped for dragusin. its actually quite comical how you can spend so many hours of your life invested in watching a sport and be so utterly fucking clueless.

The players aren't good enough to win a league. But they're better than where we're headed.
I'm not sure.

I think this squad is worse than Newcastle and Villa but that's my own opinion others may vary. I think its objective fact that we have a worse squad than City, Liverpool, Goons, Chelsea. So our par for me would be about 7th.

I think Ange is on track for that, within touching distance at least.

We might get a manager who can get us set up defensive again playing a counter attack style (which would seem to suit the players we have), but then you are going to get the usual suspects complaining about negative football.

Whoever comes in might be slightly better than Ange but its not going to be the miracle turnaround I get the impression some of you think it will be...

I think this is an area Ange definitely differs in.

It’s been highly publicised he doesn’t really get on the training ground instead leaving that to his coaches.

Poch and his team were the opposite. On the trading ground every day. Working on weaknesses hands on.
The increased aggression in defending was noticeable. Training game battles between Walker and Rose pushed them both onto higher levels. It was noticeable how much Ben Davies improved that side of his game as well.

I think people forget that Toby and Jan were full backs for Belgium too. Neither were “world class” CBs, Toby wasn’t even thought of as the best CB at Soton.

I do think the flip side of that methodology is that over time players need to be refreshed to keep things from going stale. Which is the opposite of what happened. Ange’s way is something Fergie tapped into of changing coaches to keep players on their toes. The calibre of coach then is the key.

Said it at the start of the season - he will get sacked before Christmas if we are the same inconsistent side we have been for a year and thats what it looks like right now.
I have always maintained he should be given the season at least and re evaluate then because there has been so many changes in personnel, he has a lot of young players and complete change of football style to implement etc.

If we are outside the top 5 and/or don't win a pot by summer there would be a decision to make.
A lot of our fans and the chairman won't have the patience to see it through to even then though and we will be stuck in the same cycle yet again with another up and coming manager who will be ruined in 18 months and a squad thats still a mess.

35 years of zero success and a couple of good seasons in that time has brought fans to this - its not their fault for melting.

is our squad in the top 5? interested in your opinion. Anyone that claims we should be getting top five must believe that is where our squad sits.

For me our squad is well short of top 5.

Personally I like the football, when it is going well, it’s the best I’ve seen us play for many years

And yes the results you mentioned were poor but we’ve also had some excellent results that no one saw coming

I also think if anyone has the personality to change the spursy tag then it is someone like Ange, I know lots don’t but I like his personality

It’s just my opinion, we can’t say Ange has been a failure when his only league finish so far was fifth, about where our limit was last season. We’ve had some bad losses this season but we’re still not many points off where we want to be

Sticking with him gives us a much better chance of doing something this season than getting Mason in charge for 6 weeks and then starting all over again with a new manager will

Not interested in them. I'm interested in my club and what is going on with us. And quite frankly it's not good enough.
you just knew that these little aussie cultists would pull that up. city have lost 4 so us being 10th and losing 10 out of the last 18 aint tooooooo bad. LOOOL. they sadly follow a clown about so i suppose we cant expect any different from them can we.

Spot on and those same mugs will accuse others of being gooner trolls whilst defending the indefensible, it's either malicious trolling or they are genuinely clueless as you say, tragic in either case.
