Not saying I want him whatsoever but Rodgers would probably do pretty well with this particular squad before it all turned to shit after 18 months when he’s fucked all the players off.

Why should we not expect top 4? As doom and gloom as it is in here right now, if we win just ONE of the two losses to winless Palace and winless Ipswich, we’re in 3rd.

The league is a total clusterfuck outside of Liverpool right now. Third and fourth are there for the taking for anyone with a shred of consistency.

We should absolutely expect to get top 4. If we don’t, it’s a failure on the players, management and club as a whole.
Top 4 would be nice, for all the obvious reasons.

But objectively, we don't have the depth of squad (very shallow) the calibre of manager or the wage spend (7th) to expect it or deserve it at all.

It would be a case of Ange getting them to perform above expectations combined with lots of luck with injuries. I honestly think we'll be fortunate to achieve 6th.

There's a reason this team lost to Brighton, Palace, Ipswich.

I'm not expecting Top 4. I don't think anyone here does.

However I do expect to not be rolled over by Ipswich at home so fucking easily.

I don't think anyone expected that tbf.

Top results against City & Villa, then losing to the Tractor boys🫣

As for saying no one on hear expects top 4 I disagree. Loads do, some even think we should be able to have a tilt at the title 😂.

The season will play out & we will end up pretty much where we deserve to be with the squad we have.
Likely between 5th & 8th.

We’re shallow at FB but I don’t agree about the squad as a whole. We have 5 legitimate first XI midfielders and our 6th is an 18 year old worth 40 mil.

We’ve scored the most goals in the PL so I don’t think attacking is a problem and there are several quality options up top.

We’re behind Liverpool, Woolwich and City but that’s it. The others are a toss up.

If Johnson scored from that Son cross 5 min in, we probably go on to win that game and everyone in here is talking “could we?” Instead, it’s every player is shit and even the Chelsea U20 subs would make the bench over our poor players.

The point is we as a fan base should EXPECT to be top 4. This squad is good enough, I don’t want to hear about the players not being good enough.

This manager (or someone else) needs to get them playing more consistent.

Whether the club underperform expectations or not is a whole separate conversation.
I can't agree.

We don't spend the wages required to expect Top 4. I know it doesn't guarantee it (hi Man United) but wages more than transfer fees determine on field success.

We can hope for a Top 4 run but we have been spoilt by the Poch years, we've come to expect what we're not set up as a club to achieve. The squad is just not good or deep enough to be consistent.

Should we expect the club to buck up it's ideas and actually spend the money required? Absolutely. That's a different question.

Fan bases are largely delusional though. I'm sure many Man U, Newcastle and Villa fans EXPECT top 4. They have all achieved it.

Actually more recently than us.

I just try to look at it logically

Tell me how this squad is better than Man City's, Liverpool's, Woolwich or Chelsea's🤔.

Imho One of them would need to underachieve and us overachieve to get top 4.
Of course It could happen but all things being equal it shouldn't.

Sometimes managers overachieve but you have to accept it's not the norm.
Poch did it but with prime Son and Kane amongst others and we had a top 4 quality squad at the time.

Fair enough. I happen to believe the squad is good enough to finish 4th. The top 3 are significantly ahead of the rest but I don’t think that Toon, Villa, United and even Chelsea are clearly ahead of us.

We dominated Toon away, battered Villa at home, and United could have been a double figure scoreline for us.

We need to stop losing to the likes of Palace and Ipswich and top 4 could be ours. That’s mentality and management, not skill.

So Ange is not into players training or tactical skills or coaching set plays.

I hear he is more or less just "managing" & motivating but he usually maintains a distance between mgr-player.
in other words - not too personal.

he's got plenty of time for PLAN-B or C

I don’t think Chelsea are that far ahead if at all.

Maybe that’s where I differ with the rest. They have an outstanding player in Palmer and some others I’d probably take over our guys if I was making a combined XI but I don’t think they have a squad that is clearly better than ours.

I keep seeing this we’ve scored the most goals nonsense. Against who? We’ve been lucky with the fixture list and spanked a few poor teams. It’s 9 games in, once we’ve faced better teams the goals will dry up especially away from home.
It’s clutching at a rather flimsy straw.

Fair enough I just think they have a much deeper squad. They have spent an absolute fortune tbf but no doubt have bough some very good largely young players.

They had a terrible couple of years but Poch was turning it round towards the end of last season. It was gonna start to gel eventually with all that talent/money spent.

Personally I do expect them to get top 4 as think they are stronger than Us, Man U, Toon or Villa but ok I don't think it's completely nailed on.

I find this pretty compelling for the wrong reasons, and particularly how our backroom staff were essentially cobbled together from Mason, Wells and a handful of A-League coaches. Due respect to Mase but it all seems very light touch.

I got called names from pointing this out months and months ago The cultist were very angry. Supposedly we have some super duper AI data driven recruitment model that found us Timo Werner...yet the coaches are basically men so out of their depth at EPL level they could have come from the crowd. Something seriously not adding up at Spurs. It made me wonder if Ange didn't want an experienced coach actually looking behind the curtain less they just start laughing.
