With Vuskovic coming and presumably another LB in the summer it's just depth....... He's 31; this is not old for a CB and he's never been pace-dependent.

We wouldn't be as dependent on Ben as we made ourselves on Forster (If we'd signed a new #2GK and kept him as a HG #3 there'd have been no cause for complaint on that front either).

It sticks out that he is the only one alongside Son who was part of that dynamic team during the Poch era. Initially signed as a utility player and back-up for Rose, he is still here and playing a position and system which is so unfavourable for him… and he probably was still the best player on the pitch today. Even with all the minutes from City and Roma.

We bought so much of absolute dross and wasteful lazy bums over the years comparer to him. It is insane.
 
A few weeks back I was thinking you get rid of him in the summer. Now I think they should keep him and extend. I think he’s hitting his career peak which a lot of defenders do early 30’s. No need for a back up centre back anymore just sign another left back instead.
 
I'm not a Ben Davies fan and won't pretend I am. For me he is mediocre and wouldn't have been at any other top six club for this length of time.

But I will praise him for his determination and the way he never gives up, he makes absolute maximum use of his limited talent.

If the other players with more talent gave as much as Davies we would be a far better team.

Biggest compliment I can give him

He's a fine back-up; but being left in a position for him to play twice a week was always precarious.

Leaves us brutally exposed for the chavs game.

Another one for the treatment table. He's performed admirably well when we most needed him - something you can always say for Big Ben.
 
I'm a Davies fan... Think he's been a model pro and has always given 100% ... BUT ... He's NEVER been the quickest, but always managed.. but now hes lost a 'yard' of pace, bit like Toby did .. shit happens, that's football and it and the squad moves on..
Edit, he wouldn't be a bad bet for a team/squad that play a bac 3..

I’ll give him 2 in 1/4 of a century and one of those was forced (Redknapp with Ramos on 2pts from 8 and certs for relegation)

The list of duds just gets longer and longer with the bald cunt in charge. And he’s going nowhere until we get an NFL franchise
