Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That's kinda never true in the PL, especially with Levy.

I also don't think the sack will happen, I both don't think he's very close to the line at the moment and I expect results to improve as player availability does, but it COULD happen.
It would take a complete collapse. That ain't gonna happen.
Managers get sacked when the players give up on them.
IMO our players still back Ange.

I'd rather Terzic than Bosz. But Incomplete_usernam Incomplete_usernam is quite correct. The strangest of the many canards that surround Ange Postecoglou is the notion that to replace him signifies we have entered some coaching waste land never to return. Jack Pitt-Brooke was punting this nonsense 'I don't know what they do if they fire Ange".

I know, you replace him with a coach who- though committed to attacking progressive football -understands that control comes from a disciplined well drilled back four goalkeeper and sitting midfield player that retains it shape out of possession. That isn't wedded to only one way of playing and that understands game state and can adjust its ethos to reflect this.

The cultist want to hide behind Levy and or injuries because it deflects from our head coaches inability to do the very rudimentary things. I won't belittle Ange's character because having met him I think he is a good man, he certainly wasn't the taciturn passive aggressive character I've seen in interview. He's funny warm kind and engaging I personally wish him well.

However I was one of the earliest to publicly questioned his coaching. I simply think he's been over promoted. I watched the team even in games we were winning and the systemic faillings became very obvious no matter how much I wished it was diffrent. Worse he fixed almost none of it. After 58 games it hurts to say he is the least capable coach I've seen in our dugout. The Ossie Ardiles parallels are striking.
What happens if he survives and wins a cup? or Europa?

And forget how likely that is because our record in the last quarter decade suggest the chances of silverware are incredibly slim no matter who the manager is.

I never make predictions and I never will but there is not a snowball's chance of Ange getting the sack this season.
So ice dancing fans assemble and retreat.
Strictly final next week to keep you guys interested if you have important business meetings that mean you have to miss our games.
Will probably be the best final they've ever had - not that I watch it of course :disdain:

Everybody giving up when we are the current bookmaker's favorite in the Europa League is nuts to me.

And it's not like the old Europa League, we aren't about to have other rich juggernauts parachute in as CL 3rd place group finishers.

This is it. We're the best team in this competition. Let's go fucking win it.

I wouldnt even allow him on coach home if we lose to southampton. They are abysmal. Plenty of taxis in southampton.

The biggest joke I find in this situation is that Postecoglu has already lost more games than Poch was allowed to. After finishing 4th and getting to the champions league final. The fact is he is the first manager since Ramos who has been allowed to lose so many games in the first half of the season. Nuno was sacked after losing 4.

The few big wins have bought him a lot of credit I think. Nuno was squeezing past teams 1-0 at best.

Whilst there is an element of truth to what you're saying, I don't think you've quite hit the nail on the head here.

How was today (i thought you werent going to watch it btw) absolutist all or nothing football?

At 2-0 we were still more playing on the counter than some kind of suicidal high line.

Sancho scored with pur entire defense in front of him.

Am I missing what happened here?
That is true and keep saying it’s not like we are bombing forward on the attack with the ball. We had less of the ball any and most of the time our players are back. Look at the enzo goal how many players did we have back. Just that they are lazy and don’t pick up players or smell danger.

Exactly my point. IMO Kompany can be an informative comparison.

He took over a Burnley team that was considered overpowered for Championship. Not remotely close to how OP Celtic is in Scotland but whatever. They comfortably won that slugfest known as Championship, with an appealing brand of football. The situation was the exact opposite in his second season. This time he was managing a big underdog booked for relegation. Again, Ange is having it much easier than Kompany had but let's go on. Kompany's second season was a failure to say the least. Burnley not only got relegated but the way they did was particularly alarming. Fannying around inside their own box only to give it away and concede silly goals. Massive gaps within and between their lines because teams easily play through their high press. Their campaign overall painted Kompany as a quite naive manager who struggled with adapting to his circumstances.

Despite all that, Bayern took a punt on him. Their fans were quite shocked as they were unhappy about how he handled the PL campaign and thought that they might have survived with a more savvy manager. I don't follow Bayern closely yet he seems to be doing alright. So maybe he's well suited to manage top teams despite struggling with underdogs. We don't know yet.

Even if what I said above also applies to Ange (let's assume for the sake of argument) , it's a moot point. It's no use to us. We don't operate that way. Ange may be the man for some of the biggest clubs in the world. Good for him. But it can't be an argument in favour of keeping him here. It's a waste of everybody's time.
To caveat VK is only 2/3 years into his managerial career whereas Ange has done 30 years or whatever it is.
