Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I mean, i started feeling sorry for our players. They are often put in dangerous positions because of our setup so they prefer to play safe rather than lose a ball. There are no simple patterns in our play to progress the ball, we have to execute some perfect combinations to move it under pressure just by couple metres forward. Our CB can Play safely only to another CB cause lone 6 is usually with opponent on his back, and our FBs are already high on the pitch. When our FB receives a ball - opponent is already on his back, so he need to either give it back to CB, Play dangerous 1-2 with one of our 8, or try to pass short pass to our winger - who (except Deki) cannot hold the ball when back to the goal, so prolly will lost it, or will play it back to FB and put him under pressure, or when stars align - play perfect 1-2 with FB or 8 and progress the ball. If you need to execute very risky plays perfectly to move through own half under semi-pressure (opponents usually press our FBs and MFs, so they let our CBs have a ball) - its a recipe for errors, losing a ball and concede chances.

For Ange to make Xmas, he has to win the next 2. I can’t see it at all, he already doesn’t have some of the senior players playing for him - Biss.

I don’t care about all the backing him noise, if Levy is getting pelters at the United game then Ange is gone, we’ve seen it all before.

My guess is we get another shiete draw at Southampton and United knock us out. Mason managed us to a 4-0 loss at home to Liverpool.

Merry Xmas
Not the worst thing in the world - crowd will be baying for Levy

Ange keeps complaining about our injuries but from what I’ve seen Forster, dragusain, Davies, gray have come in and not done a terrible job.
It’s the others that are playing shite week in week out.
Davies the backup Centre back also got injured! I think we have it pretty bad with Injuries, however it was the same last season so are they a result of our training methods and how the manager asks us to play?

I mentioned it before but are Anges methods of play sustainable in the PL, when you are 3-0 up in a game do you really need to be going for the 4th and 5th goal? I think he is partly responsible for the state the squad is in, and we aint City so we will never get a squad of ready made replacements , what worries me most about Ange is he doesn't seem to have any In-game management , maybe if we just had periods of this insane pressing we would cope a lot better with injuries?

I'm already starting to feel sorry for whoever takes over in a week or two. They're going to inherit an injured or knackered squad as players have been over played to save his skin, no confidence, all defensive sense coached out of them, no real options to change it up. We're going to have to get really lucky in the cups to prevent the season being a write off by the end of January because we're sticking with this dud for too long.

Sunday scenario:

Saints and crowd well up for a visit from “soft centre Spurs”.

Spurs players see through the Aussie fraud digging out players to cover his own inability.

Saints win.

Monday he’s gone. Levy lines up Kieran McKenna as the only one who’d touch the job at the minute.

We’ll see.

I understand the sentiment that the team is looking like a mess right now, and that convoluted mess will take at least couple of months to sort. It's not that bad though. Emery inherited a similar, in some respects worse, mess from Gerrard. 16th place, players lacking any self-belief, prospect of a relegation battle looming large. Yet he hit the ground running from day one. Similar story with Glasner, who took over a Hodgson team bereft of any sort of creativity and gameplan. They became one of the best teams in the league from that point on til the end of the season. Just two examples on the top of my head. Not that any John Doe will walk in and start turning our fortunes around overnight, but it's not a monumental task like some people here are making it out to be.

Except we are worse than last season.

He inherited a mess. We finished 5th.

We started this season and we are bottom half, and on pace to lose more matches and earn way less points than last year. He’s going backwards and has no clue how to curtail this poor form.

We weren’t even this fragile when we had the injury crisis last season. We are in free fall right now.

He’s a complete cunt hanging Werner out to dry like that. Only a day ago he was castigating Romero for airing dirty laundry and he’s doing the same thing with one of his players. What a prick.

Was a bit pissed when I wrote this last night but I’m not rowing back from it. It’s like the playground bully picking on the weak kid. The player’s confidence already in tatters and he does this to him to deflect from another shit performance.

Football is like politics - when it goes wrong you always have the next step covered, manager blames the players, players blame the manager, chairman blames the manager, fans blame the chairman. Ange is not the problem at the club, Levy is. If you are going to appoint Ange then give him the tools to do the job instead of trying to put square pegs in round holes.
That game wasn’t important last night, qualification is pretty much guaranteed. One team played as if their lives depended on it. Sunday is way more important.

The weak kid who is a German international earning fortunes a week, right you are. Ange is spot on here, Werner was a disgrace last night

Nope.

The tide is about to turn.

Agree with all but Udogie. He'd be great in a 5 defense system as a WB but sucks at being a FB
Fans were all moaning when Conte played 343 but now fans want to go back to a back 3/5 system....
Well yes.

It was more indicating the scale. Numbers still work.

You really are tetchy at the moment aren’t you lol
All he wants to do is argue. Best thing to do with that type of person is not to get into it, ignore them. Best way to do that is say whatever you won't, put him on ignore and don't ever respond again.
We’d had a great start to the season and just hit a crippling amount of injuries - plus he had only been in the job 3 months - sacking him in November would have been crazy, even by Levy standards
I sort of agree. It would have come across as absolutely mental to most of the world.
Doesn't change the fact that massive alarm bells were going off for a lot of us even when we went 10 unbeaten, let alone when it all started unravelling.

I can think of two players who were clearly not putting in 100% yesterday (Porro and Maddison) but these guys are of a certain £ value to the club so they'll never get called out the way AP did with Werner and while I contend Werner was atrocious it wasn't because of a lack of effort or professionalism.

You misunderstood me I think. What I meant by "it's not that bad" was not that we're not terrible right now. We are. My point was that competent managers can fix this kind of terrible situations even in mid-season. It's not that bad in the sense that it's fixable by a successor. It wasn't meant to be a comparison between our last season and this season. Hope this makes sense.

Like I said, Villa were 16th when Emery took over in Nov 2022. I think they finished 2th behind City for the remainder of the year. The turnaround was that drastic.

Similar with Glasner in Feb 2024. They were 15th when he took over, and they had one of the strongest finishes to the season. Including wins against the likes of Utd, Pool, Villa and Newcastle. Sample size was admittedly smaller compared to Emery's, but the change in style of play and players' attitudes were blatant.

We still nearly have 2/3 of the season ahead, with everything to play for. An actually competent manager can do wonders.

If it wasn't for Kane and Bale, we wouldn't have even seen the limited recent successes we've had.
Yet the fan base seem to think we have an inherent right to be up there with the big boys.

We're no better than West Ham or Fulham if we're honest, they have more fight and a better mentality than us, and have done for a while.
All fans project & have an inflated idea of where their club should be. That isn't just us though is it?
Yes it's fair to say we overachieved under Poch but we are still a far bigger club than West Ham or Fulham.
Fulham are doing well now but they don't have our history or pedigree.
West Ham fans with a new stadium after a couple of top 8 finishes & conference win thought they were bigger than they are, they are certainly not as big as us.

Fact: We are the 3rd most successful club in London

Even by conservative estimates we are a top 8 club in the Prem league.

You wouldn't say that about West Ham or Fulham.
Top 8 for them is overachieving.

We should be a comfortable top 8 club that does well in the cups & finishes top 4 from time to time.

Obviously as fans we want more but I feel it's more than fair to say that is our 'natural' position.

Ang is as much, if not more of a problem than Levy.

We have lost far too many games when even the crap Levy have him should have been far too much for the opposition.

Look, it's clear from your username that Spurs aren't particularly important to you.

We know Levy is a problem. We know. It's been done to death on here. But the manager can also be a problem.

Qualification is not guaranteed. Why do people keep insisting on this? Why do so many have this attitude that Spurs can afford to drop these points because we'll pick up the next ones. Well newsflash, every time someone says that we proceed to drop the next ones too.

As for square pegs and round holes, maybe the manager needs to adapt somewhat as well then? He's the one hammering things into the wrong holes after all.
