Those who are arguing in favour of another manager are in a tough spot by default. They're asking a purely hypothetical question (" How would X do if he got here tomorrow? " ) and answering affirmatively. Then they're trying to find pieces of evidence that can only indicate, not prove in a definitive sense, that a new manager would indeed do a better job.
A manager's past accomplishments, his fit with the squad, his current state of form etc are all indicators of how he would do if he' s put in a different situation. They can never conclusively prove anything, in the strictest sense of the term. Because they all involve extrapolation to some extent. Obviously not all arguments are equal in strength, but after all that's what they are: arguments. There's no escaping this.
It seems that those who are fond of Ange are taking full advantage of this situation. They're rejecting all the arguments in favour of all possible candidates in the sense that these are not conclusive evidences. Even though they themselves have to prove a hypothetical of the similar kind ("How would Ange do if he stayed for X amount of years, given Y amount of money and so on? " ), they usually refuse to do this and instead take a defensive stance.
They spend a good portion of their time tearing down all other managers, without necessarily trying to make a positive case for Ange. They assume that status quo, by default, is preferable to any possible change because the latter involves a leap of faith. And if there's no conclusive evidence that change would indeed lead to better outcomes, then why bother?
It's not a pure nonsense point of view that simply needs to be ignored. But it's a very negative one that involves a great deal of fondness towards status quo, while conversely involving a great deal of skepticism towards the unknown. Except I don't see what's so great about the current situation that we need to cling on to by any means.
I don't have a problem with hiring a new manager in the Summer (if this carries o), I have a problem with hiring a new manager now because there is 0 credible managers or there to take over the job now
Il have some of what you're drinking!!!
