Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Ange's methods are literally causing our players to drop like flies. For the sake of our players legs, we need to bring in a manager with a proper understanding of the demands of the PL and the relevant sports science. Asking the players to sweat blood every day in training then demanding that they run like wild horses in a chaotic match every 3 days, is suicide. Nobody else at this level is dumb enough to do that.

Even the most intense attacking teams have periods where they rest on the ball and conserve energy. Even the teams that press aggressively do so in a structured way that makes it difficult for the opponent to play out. This manager does not believe in that. He believes in kamikaze football and nothing else, and it's a sign of his proximity to the P45 that we played more conservatively today than we ever have before under him. He is panicking big time because his ideas have taken us to the edge of a relegation battle.
Good post. I find the set up at the club with the random coaching team very weird, I have to say.

He’s saying today that Destiny is fucked because he can’t rest him. Reggie is right there. Spence has been playing the last few games whilst Destiny recovered from the knock he sustained against Southampton last weekend. Then rushes him back today. It’s him overworking the players and refusing to rotate. And thinks that we can’t see it. He may not want to use Reggie or Spence but they are registered players and it’s absolute negligence not to use them.

Some find him appealing for reasons that people find some other managers and players appealing in general. He's not unique in that regard. Nor is it that puzzling.

People love what if stories in general. Sliding doors moments, injuries that derailed a player's career, losing this title race, winning that cup final trigger their imagination, which often leads them astray. For some, Ange will forever have his own what if story in the form of that Chelsea game. They may not openly admit it, but they probably believe that things would have been way different if that match went as planned. There's no logical ground to assume this, but like I said imagination often runs wild in these situations.

Ange was also a good candidate to be the main character of an inspirational zero to hero story. If he had actually succeded -no matter how you define it- here, this would have been nothing short of a miracle considering his background. It would make a heartwarming Hollywood story. I assume this kind of sentimentality also clouds some people's judgment about him. They just want to see him succeed against all odds, no matter what concrete evidence actually shows.

Some also establish false dichotomies between the hero (Ange) and the villain (Levy), where the former's hard work is jeopardized by the latter. Except there is no logical relationship between how you feel about them. You can love both, hate both, or stand anywhere in between. Binary, black and white thinking is more appealing for obvious reasons though.

People who think the way I outlined above will not be swayed no matter what happens on the pitch. Because their opinions barely had anything to do with what was happening on the pitch in the first place.

Agree! And this is why we need to get rid now. His style/approach is going to leave this young squad broken and devoid of confidence.

Please not Terzic- how about somebody with an actual record of success in the Prem? Worked for the Solanke signing- buying Prem tested is not something to be avoided.

You think buying Solanke is a good example of buying Prem tested players that worked out?

Look at the top players in the PL. How many of them came from abroad and weren’t “PL” tested?

Look at the top top managers. None of them were PL tested before they took their first successful PL roles.

Utterly asinine thing to say.

Solanke gets minimal service and has to run around like a mad man every 3 days. I imagine he is absolutely exhausted. He isn’t the most clinical but he’s been one of our better players this season. A half decent manager, a good winger and a bit of rest and he will look every bit of his transfer fee.

It's obviously personal abuse by any measure, same as telling another poster to f*** off (as you did moments ago on another thread) is too. Anyway...

I get Ange is frustrating - I agree, actually. My question remains - who's your pref. to take over?

This is very important. What’s the point of sacking Ange if you don’t have a solid manager lined up and a plan for that manager to succeed?

I don’t trust that Levy has either of those things firmed up.

Iraola. Do everything to get him.
If it still doesn't happen, Silva.
If that still doesn't happen, Frank.
If that still doesn't happen, Potter.

I know nothing about Terzic and dozens of other qualified coaches that will be better than this dipshit.
