What a choice!
Would you rather break your right leg or your left?

Hilarious thread. Son might be struggling but he still has nearly 7 expected assists and 11 goal contributions. He can deliver a killer ball still and can finish with both feet.

Yeah if we had a quality alternative on the left I’d be benching him but Werner? Fuck off ffs. The guy can barely play football. He’s a roadrunner. He maybe comes on late against tired legs sometimes but that’s it.

Need to be spending huge money on a left winger in the summer. The replacement for Son has to be a big signing.

Between the 2, maybe a choice based on the opponent? If it’s a low block, Son could be a better bet for his shooting and play around the fringe of the box. If it’s against an attacking team, like City, Werner for the direct pace to take advantage of the space given.

Son should start most games, and be subbed between 55-70' depending on his performance. Werner can be a spot starter at LW when Son needs a rest, that is, if we wouldn't rather give a start to Odobert, Moore, or Yang instead. All the rest of the minutes Son doesn't take up can be split between the kids.

Since we aren't keeping Werner long-term, he's just a player we use as we need to, if we need to. That's functionally what happens with loanees when your club have no financial incentive to improve them long-term.

Werner or Son... Interesting concept...
Though it sounds like a Solicitors firm!

I'm going to have to plump for Werner's son! (does Werner even HAVE a son?)

When did he ever start as a RW for us? When he did once, (I think in 22/23) he scored and saved us from defeat.
People have just forgotten how good Son is on the right too. He can play right, left and center but Ange can't utilize this.

Look at those goals against City. Best team in the league and he scored many against them from the right.

This goal against Chelsea also came from the right.

But he will never play there in this system because the Aussie rules man prefers BJ.

When he first got in the team didn't Son replace Lamela on the right? We had Dele on the left of a 3 behind Kane at that time, Eriksen in the middle. Or have I remembered wrong?

Why are you bringing up videos of peak Son when he clearly was twice the player he is now?

I think Nuno had him on the right, unsure for how long but pretty sure the first few games of the season. In theory Son is extremely 2 footed and should be able to play both sides, but I imagine he prefers playing on the left far more otherwise he would have switched more over the years.

Edit: Just checked and he only played against Watford on the right under Nuno. He has played 61 times in his career on the left wing but unsure when.
