Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Pretty sure we were nearly all Ange fans once, mate. Now we are nearly all disgruntled Spurs fans. Whether each of us blame Ange or some other cause is up to individual point of view, but from my life perspective, rarely have I seen where things go wrong it’s down to one thing. Rather a combination of factors.
Not me I never wanted Ange in the first place - I knew he was a cheap punt. He seems to have zero tactical nous and thinks we will outscore whoever we're up against. The defence is always exposed and he doesn't seem to fix anything - its the same week in week out. I don't like him as a person either, comes across as arrogant because he's won in Scotland and Japan. Sooner he's gone the better. Before you say it I know the biggest problem Tottenham have is the owners.

I'm sure that account is run by chef sarrpreme off twitter

Really? Wouldn't it take reach away from his main account?

Been seeing that rumor a few places today. My guess is a young up and coming good keeper makes sense to get him before somebody else comes in. Long term option to battle for the number 1

Would it make sense for the kid himself, though? How many times is Vicario going to be injured and when does it ever really happen that competition for places amongst GKs works out? Woolwich made a big song and dance about it last year but in the end they were just being nice about replacing Ramsdale with the hobbit.

If managers don’t rotate in the league then what the fuck is he moaning for then?
Because they rotate in December when the schedule is like a European week. Only we can't do that when we have 10 first teamers out. Surely that's pretty obvious?

Also, all managers rotate a player or 2 in and out of the first 11 during European weeks so that the team playing keeps a balance of first 11 and rotation players. It's never 11 in and 11 out. Surely that's also pretty obvious?

The best case scenario would be to have a squad that you can use like they do in ice hockey where they rotate complete lines at once. So you have 2 complete sets in midfield or central defence, for example, that you don't mix and match, you just switch them in and out.

Just seeing Ange pre match pressie. Udogie six weeks, Bentancur supsended, a few players have flu, Mikey and Richy next cabs of the rank but not until next week, Yang still finding his feet. Everyone else end of January now. Fuck me we are in trouble. Might beat Tamworth but that's about it.

Tough to get team chemistry that way though. You need a squad who all know how to play together and players who can plug in and play together.

Do you expect me to believe you care about winning trophies?

No Ange I expect you to take the blame
Levy has a cat???

:andros:

I'd be amazed if Levy sacks Ange this season. The feeling I get is that everyone in the club appreciates that the squad is a work in progress and was too thin for this season because they were being patient to get the right profiles in, and that the injury problems have been worse than anticipated. I personally want to see Ange given another full season on the condition that Levy actually spends some money on the players we need, both in this window and the summer one. I also think that Ange has learnt that the PL is by far the most physically intense league he has encountered and will rotate much more effectively when he has a deeper squad.

We still need:

GK: A backup GK who is home grown and good with his feet.
RCB: A ball playing, experienced CB to cover Romero.
LCB: A fast, left footed defender who can cover VdV.
LB: Whilst Spence can cover this position, we need have a dedicated LB to compete with Udogie.
DM: We need an experienced specialist, as Bissouma is too inconsistent, with Gray the long term option..
RWF: With Kulu better at #10, we need an alternative to Johnson, preferably a more creative winger who can beat his man.
CF: We need proper competition for Solanke. Richy is just too injury prone. Lankshear really needs a loan.
No RB?

Equally they have a far more acute squad problem than Spurs and INEOS did put more cash into ManU so I think the FFP point is more that they need to spend like crazy (and release players such as Anthony) , but that would exceed ffp criteria.

Spurs ffp position is good but doesn't allow us to spend as much as some fans have been crying out for.
Without looking at the stats off the top of my head last few seasons we have got rid of big wages like Lloris , Perisic , Dier , Kane & Ndombele.
IMO it’s not really transfer fees that we would need to worry about as these are spread out over the length of the contract, it’s wages and ours has decreased a lot so I’d say we have quite a bit of room to play with.
Again this is just my opinion and happy to be proved wrong , but I don’t think we are anywhere near the limit for FFP so no excuses not to strengthen next few windows

He's not been able to rotate in the cups since injuries took, so it's the same group playing Europa, league cup, and the Christmas period
Seems rational complaint to me. I'll leave it at that
Liverpool partially rotated against Southampton but otherwise in December have fielded practically the same core group of players in the league and champions league. Comfortably top of both leagues. And their manager isn’t complaining.

It’s a brutal time of the year and I get it sucks, but it’s not brand new information that we’d have this run of games nor that Ange breaks players, or that these core CBs are prone to missing games.

I’m just saying he wouldn’t have rotated if he could have, because he hasn’t shown any sign of doing that in the league.
