Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The business with VDV and Romero is a joke, a sacking offence in itself. Even though he had Dragusin available he panicked and risked both of them from the start, hurt both of them and has probably doubled the length of their absence.

Taking a risk on one of them might have been defensible. To risk both was utterly childish.
He risked them did he?

Forced his will to override the medical team into clearing them to play. Then forced Romero to go down with a completely new injury.

Fucking high line tactics and reckless sprinting obviously made our players more susceptible to catching that illness bug. Fuck Ange and his dinosaur training methods.

If only the intensity wasn't so much and bring player back too early from their injuries, we'd had a bigger pool of players to pick from

We're gonna get humped lol, if Madders is one of the "ill" players I'll bet this is effectively players downing tools knowing that Ange is dead in the water and there's no point being the subject of even more ire of the fans, who I'm sure will not be too chuffed to watch us roll over and eagerly hand another 3 points to a team we should by all rights expect to beat, if we were performing as we should be. I legit think even though its obviously never how we usually do business I think Ange would have had a statement signing in by the Newcastle game to bolster his chances, I think Levy is happy to hang him out to dry and spend whatever money is planned after he goes so it looks more like backing the new manager than throwing more money down the well at the old one who is clearly fucked either way.
Players have defo downed tools and called in sick.

Just because they were cleared to play doesn’t mean you have to start them. Especially with the injury record of both players. You have to use common sense.

Romero had been playing through the pain with a broken toe and a hamstring injury for weeks, anyone with any sports science knowledge knows that there is a high chance that a different compensatory injury can occur if the player is not able to play comfortably. VDV has a long record of hamstring injuries and Ange literally admitted that he kept him on longer than the medical team advised. Pure incompetence that may well have ruined our season.

Starting Dragusin and one of Romero/VDV would have been an acceptable risk. Starting both was desperate and moronic. Shall we start Richarlison and Moore in the game against Liverpool next week? And leave them on for longer than the medical team recommend? Would that make sense?

Players have not downed tools. People do get unwell for fuck sake. I’m pretty sure they’ll be fine to play and told to stay away from training as a precaution.
It’ll be Ange’s fault for this too!!!

Maybe if we weren't so decimated from lack of rotation we could afford to have 2 or 3 players go down sick at once, we can't because Ange stubbornly refused to give the backline sufficient rest and now we are paying the price. Do people think it's purely coincidence that we have lead the injury table in the league at various points from the early midway point of both Ange's campaigns so far?

I do believe you made that up.

As for not starting players who were cleared to play… you will struggle to find a single coach in the world that wouldn’t start their main CBs against Chelsea if they are cleared to play.

What Spurs player worries you the most?
Son, for obvious reasons. Then Maddison and Kulusevski.

Burn is a glorious giant lump, but he's not refined like Fabulous Fabian. Without Schar we lose a bit of our composure and control at the back. And I think those three specifically can take advantage of that.

Trippier vs Son isn't something I'm looking forward to. Tino might have the physicality to pester Son a bit more that Tripps.

It’s getting tiring. I was even taking the piss saying fans would blame Ange for a flu bug but they only went and blamed him then used it as an excuse to bring up previously ridiculous narratives about a playing style with sprints being the problem.

the previous poster just mentioned Ange admitting himself he played him(VDV) longer then the medical team advised....why are you changing your tune regarding this now? have a look at your posts when it happened...you literally stated Ange was wrong for selecting VDV and he takes blame for that (whilst he takes no blame for Romero).

At the time I was reactionary and dramatic because I was frustrated by the injuries.

Then I used my brain, thought about it rationally and realised I was wrong. Am I not allowed to be wrong now?
No you wasn't? what on earth are you talking about.
You literally stated on the same post (and posts after) that he takes zero blame regarding Romero and explained why he takes blame for one and not the other so it wasn't "reactionary" it was thought out.

23 Nov 2024:

Ange Postecoglou hopes Cristian Romero is nearly over the toe and hamstring problems which have hampered the Argentine in recent weeks but says Tottenham will give the defender time to return to 100 per cent fitness.

"With us, he hasn’t been fully fit for probably two or three weeks," Postecoglou said. "He’s kind of soldiered on through it because that is the kind of character [he is] … and we kind of needed him but I think when he went away, he kind of realised, this is not healing the way we want it to.

"It’s a couple of separate issues. And I spoke to him and said: ‘Look, just have a break. We need you 100 per cent fit.’ As much as we’d love to have him out there, I think it’s best for him he gets totally over everything. He had the birth of his daughter this week as well which is also a significant event in his life.

"One was obviously the knock on his toe which has been a bit troublesome and prior to that he had a bit of a tight hamstring," Postecoglou added.

Here Ange literally admits that he selected him knowing he wasn’t fit which made the problems worse.
