I do agree with ange about its not a level game in this country with the officiating. Last 30-40 years has been like that. That handball today and then had luxury of VAR to check to still go unnoticed. Madness.

Pepe Mel when he was at Betis said something about Mourinho's Madrid, that "if you let them have the ball, they beat themselves".

Similair thing with us for a long time now it feels like. When a team that isn't Liverpool wants to get into a game of who punches harder, we might have a good chance. A team that wants to keep us at arms length seems to be able do that pretty successfully.
Spot on

We were poor long before the injuries, Shady. Let’s not rewrite history—our decline started after the Chelsea game, and it’s been on a downwards trend ever since.

The so-called ‘Ange out agenda’ isn’t some contrived vendetta; it’s an objective conclusion based on results, performances, and the complete lack of tactical discipline. Injuries might explain some things, but they don’t excuse months of predictable patterns, defensive chaos, and stubborn decision-making.

I think it’s obvious the football isn’t entertaining for any of us because we spend more time arguing on here about Ange than we do talking about the football don’t we?

That’s probably the only thing I agree with you on here, we spend too much time talking about it but I think that speaks volumes about how shit we are under his management because if the football was good, this thread would have half the replies…
It’s strange how we have played teams missing key players recently like Brighton and we have struggled. This is bcos other managers / coaches have their teams well organised regardless of who plays. Bit like playing a lower div team who put everyone behind the ball. That’s sane or worse than ha ing a few players missing. The lower team will still make it hard for you to score.

Yeah exactly. Our backline actually did reasonably well, albeit under very little pressure second half.

Our midfield and attacking players were completely unable to break Newcastle down. Created very little of any note.

I don’t think Newcastle played well at all. I don’t think they had to.
They had the best performing front three and midfield three throughout December - in a great run of form. Weren’t conceding goals either. Take that into account and add in the weird ass team we had to play, it was up to them to do the breaking down. Which they obviously did, just not as much as I expected.

But I think we stopped them playing well, not that they didn’t play well for another reason. Our midfield hassled and harried, Solanke was chasing the ball into midfield. Even Timo was making himself a pain in the arse.

Yes, creativity from us was an issue. Not good against a similarly ambitious side at home, but not the disaster of previous matches. Maybe some hope.

They dominated the first half after we took an early lead and from then on were clearly happy to contain. Never really seemed unsettled by us. Some hope? Meh, only if we've lowered the bar to a ridiculous degree. We were ok against a team who never really seemed like they needed to get out of third gear.

Depressing how far we have fallen. Other than Tamworth and Leicester at home its hard to see many wins in our upcoming fixtures.
