Thought spence played well yesterday and we looked more dominant him switching to centre defence with gray. Both him and gray are technically good players. Prefer spence to porro at right back as more hybrid defensively and going forward.

Are we not meant to be competitive though?
Toon got Botman back after 9 months. Goalie is out and scher was suspended. Until yday we were only really missing our 2 CBs ( self inflicted) and goalie. I don’t get this narrative until we get all our players back. The midfield has not really been affected bar bents suspension. He has swapped them around as and rested I Europa. Forwards all fit and swapped around. Then we have the disused players who are now performing better than the ones out. I mean with the players we still have we should be competitive, hard to beat and have enough in attacking areas to score. Some on her keep
Going on as if we are a league two team down to bear bones. All the teams in Europe and still in caraboa have same fixture list. Dippers very rarely rest salah. I’d like to see how many minutes their players have played in comparison to ours.

I think there is diff rule. If the person who scores touches the ball like Joe did then it’s disallowed. If it’s deemed accidental in build up then doesn’t count afaik.

Reminds me of a former ENG & Utd CB who had a fondness for the white stuff (still does) and got a slap on the wrist for it...knowing he was even worse after that, just better protected.

It is unbelievable they way some think. We could be in bottom 3 and some will say ‘lots of positives’. Are we watching a diff team. Since when is losing 1-2 at home to toon a match where you say lots of positives. Will Ange use those positives? Based on his previous team selections I doubt it. If both cuti and VDV were fit for next game and destiny bet your bottom dollar they’d be straight back in. These positives were the negatives for Ange until he became desparate. Honestly!

Positives:
  • Austin showed he is a decent GK and easily could have been the EL GK allowing Spence into the EL squad. Austin actually look better than Vicario on crosses and corners.
  • Gray continues to impress playing out of position at just 18 years old.
  • Bergvall looked very good and will develop into a really decent CM.
  • The players clearly played for Ange - he is going nowhere!

You do realise that Ange would never have picked Spence unless he really had to same with some others. If he really liked drag he would have kept his place v chavs and played with one of the other two. But our esteemed manager thought it wise to start both even though both were returning back from injury. That was self inflicted. Bents suspension was again idiotic self inflicted. Destiny hamstring they way we have to constantly sprint back and forth.

Who does have the budget to buy the exceptional. If you look at our forward line and toons how much did ours cost compared to theirs? We have paid a lot of money for players. So it’s not that but player selection and tactics / coaching.

Second half with an absolute patchwork back 4 we showed lots of character and really dominated the half (without creating too much).

I’ve battered this side and Ange last few weeks but we were OK today all things considered.

Couple of quick points….

- Spence is just a quality player. I think he looked better at CB than both Dragusin and Gray personally. His recovery pace is invaluable.

- Reguilon is no world beater by any means but he’s a better LV than Gray or Davies for my money. I remember in the 2023 pre season he was battling it out with Udogie for a starting spot. Then he got abused by a 16 year old and was dropped from the squad. That 16 year old was Lamal. He isn’t a great player but we’re paying him, we might as well make use of him unless we sign another quality LB.

Keep him till end of season as we all know that if we buy a LB it will some 18 yr old which Ange won’t start.
