I agree, but I think it's the least likely case. I obviously wouldn't put it past them, but IMO they're keeping him because, like it or not, they're seeing something in him worth hanging onto.

Whether the magic of those 10 matches still persists, or they're getting the impression from the amount of goals we scored this season that we will be fine as soon as Romero and VdV are back (and maybe after we sign a defender or two), or his captivating aura as an ideologue clouds their judgment and leads to them being less result-oriented in their evaluation of him compared to how they evaluated previous managers, or any combination of those, it seems they'll continue being very patient with him.

Is this a gross misjudgment? Possibly. Is it just lack of ambition? No.

This patience is of course not unlimited, but they may not run out of it as quickly as some people here hope. Because of the reasons outlined above
I ultimately disagree with your take on it but respect your argument style and writing. If they do nothing it'll be a sign of lack of ambition/competitiveness. If they do something it shows they care enough to to take it where it hurts most- right in the checkbook.

It was the way he said "no, yeah it's not our waaa...it's not Anges way to sit back at any point.errrrmmm...I'm very proud of the lads who kept going, it can be very easy to(takes a huge breath and pauses) just try to sit back to stop anymore chances and keep it to a minimum especially when they get like ..the 5th"

He's knows it's ridiculous.
Agree. I like how visibly ashamed and upset he is at giving up SIX goals at home. For Maddison it's a grave matter of personal pride. For Ange however it's just "entertainment".

This- is disgusting.

Oh great, the blind leading the blind in terms of experience of success in top level European football.

Yokohama Marinos? Melbourne Heart? Celtic? Jesus..
Melbourne Heart???? WTF If you are going to go all Eurocentric nose in the air - at least get the clubs right. Melbourne Heart are now Melbourne City - Yes owned by CFG (Who obviously aren't at all Eurocentric). Ange coached Melbourne Victory not Melbourne City.

Well, if he's so good at it, why hasn't he scored even more tap ins and being at the right spot? You can equally well sk that question. Embarrassing.

You judge a footballer by how many tap ins he scores. That's ridiculous. Look at the package. What can he achieve among limited players who can't give him the tap in? Nothing! 1 goal this season that was non tap in. That's the lowest of lowest among the premier league forwards.

He's at the right place because the ball comes to the back post. He's at the back post because he's playing next to Solanke who's in the middle. Naturally, he's always going to be there if the ball is passed there. There's no 6th sense about it. It's just about being in that position while the opposite wing serves it to you an a plate.

If that's all you're good for, you're a waste of space in elite football.
All he is doing is being at the back post when the ball is getting delivered from the left. It’s not rocket science. He should be on double the amount goals he’s on but he misses too many and isn’t brave enough to go in where it hurts. He’s bang average at best and anyone saying he’s better than that is blind. Needs replaced as a starter now along with Sonny. Both players are impact subs for the last 20 mins of games when the game is stretched.

I think Son still has it. Number of chances created is actually very high when compared to other players in the league. At least for the remainder of the season, it makes no sense not to start him. Son is still miles ahead of BJ.

Agree with the rest though. He's game is terrible all round. He's a very unintelligent player and a bad finisher but anyone will play once in a while if served such chances on a plate.

So, the reason that Ange is still safe is because of Scott Munn. He's the guy who convinced Levy to sign Postekos. Munn and Ange goes back a long way. They're good buddies. As long as Scott Munn is in his role, Ange will probably sit safe too.

It's worse than I had expected but finally starting to make sense.

I wasn't aware they had that kind of history. We're fucked!!

You saw the difference on Saturday when Sonny came on. He looked bright and lively. Maybe that’s the way forward for him. Whether he accepts that is a different story but at the end of the day we can’t be too loyal if it’s making us worse.

I knew Brennan’s dad back in the day from playing and he was the polar opposite of what his son is. There’s not one single trait in Brennan’s game that was similar to his dad’s.

Yes, I agree but I think it has a lot to do with Maddison coming on at the same time. They have really good chemistry and you can see that they love playing together. They do things between them, like the corner that surprised Newcastle and from which Maddison almost scored from.

If you look at the 4-0 win against City, both Son and Madders started. If you look at Maddisons second goal, you will see real world class play. It was perfect football. They can create this together when given the chance. BJ didn't start that game, so I think the formation is key and they can do it whether starting or being subbed.

The next game following the City trashing that they both started and BJ was excluded was against Southampton.
In 45 minutes they scored 5. Again, Son and Madders linked up. At half time Son was swapped for BJ. The attack completely died.

Next game with that formation was against man u and we went up 3-0 quickly. I don't think it's a coincidence.

Now we've been back to the same old for 3 games and we're struggling so much. I don't understand why Ange is doing it.

Cool that you played with his dad.

I still think Madders is the key to us winning games. When he plays well we play well. He’s always probing which makes players be less static and you see that with Sonny. Good players lift others around them and madders is one of those. He gets stick from some people but he’s a brave player on the ball and takes the hits.

A lot of our problems on the ball come from inverted full backs clogging up the midfield and killing the space for our midfielders. We are such a narrow team at times because our full backs don’t overlap and our wide players are negative and come back inside too much. When on the odd occasion Porro goes on the outside we look more dangerous. Even Reguilon was overlapping on Saturday and we looked better for it. Sonny then can go in and play with the likes of Madders and you then have different options. We are far too one dimensional and easy to play against.
Ange will lose his job playing this way but if he changed and asked full backs to be more conventional we’d be harder to beat and create more chances which inevitably means you win more and lose less.

Thats exactly why i dont understand the constant inversion of the full backs. Players like bj and sonny arent good in tight spaces so why clog the areas up
I mean the idea is that the winger stays wide and stretches out the defence and the FBs can underlap into the gaps between the opposition FBs and CBs. It worked better last season but our wingers have been so abject this year and Porro andUdogie so knackered it’s not really happened as much recently.

Oh i know but we're so predictable now teams block it up because we never change it up
