Match Woolwich Wanderers vs Tottenham Hotspur FC @ The Dome of Silence, 8PM KO Wed 15 Jan 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We have quality, we just do not have a sensible way of playing. Going away from home we need 2 strong midfielders, helping the defense. Then 2 more players who are mf but can attack and finally a quick wide player and a strong cf.
We completely abandoned the fairly successful system of the 1st half and left Bergvall on his own in mf. Please will someone tell me what the system was in the 2nd half ?
Basically we lost this game because of a goalkeeping mistake and our total inability to create a decent chance.
The youngsters have shown some real quality. So when the injuries abate we’ll have a decent squad. The system does seem nuts. We are being openly and belligerently one dimensional, so teams can contain us if they have half a brain cell, and we make it so easy as they know we’re not pragmatic, we have no surprises, we will play exactly as planned, and our system will put ourselves under pressure and gift easy opportunities. It is genuinely insane. If it wasn’t for the unlikely 6 points in Manchester against two sides playing their worst game of the season, we’d be in total shit.

Again though, almost weirdly, I also find myself not really caring that much. Even in a NLD. Losing is disappointing but it’s just a minor annoyance. My heart has gone cold on this football club. Sad in some ways but the truth is one of my life’s main passions doesn’t really exist any more.

Here it is. The problem writ large. You have nailed it. We are a very very poorly coached team. I bet if we interviewed all the coaches seperately and asked the to explain positionally how the side is set up they would tell you wildly diffrent things, it's what Levy should do if he gave a fuck, or understood what he was watching. The bloke must understand less than some of the people on here. But you get it. Solanke under Iraola clearly understood how to maximise his attributes to get goals. He must be reeling.
I also think if you asked every coach in the epl who they like to play, most of them would say us or Southampton. Guaranteed to concede and mentally weak

Weve gone back to pre poch days before a game knowing were going to lose. That's QPR mentality. 2nd rate club. Have a read of poch book what he heard from club and players when new fixtures come out in his first season. It's an embarrassment the mentality. Weve gone back to that. Like turning yourself in for a crime you didnt commit. Shocking.

That’s right but given his hamstring issues were well known why buy him at all as it’s a risk!
I think it’s worth the risk he’s absolutely class and miles ahead of any cb we’ve had in a while. Yes he might get the odd hammy strain but stop making him have to make twenty 50m sprints each game because our line is stupidly high every match he plays. A different manager isn’t exposing him to injury as much as Ange has. The risk is still there of course.

Just another day at the office eh. 1 in 31 away to them is scandalous really but we all know how it goes.

As many have mentioned - Bergvall and Spence were brilliant again, especially the former who looked like the most senior player out there tonight. All good experience for the young players to improve and move forward - we are going to need them all in the next cupla years.

Our other players though were piss poor - injured, tired whatever you have to expect more in a NLD from them.

I feel now finally how a Bournemouth or Brighton fan feels probably. We can be really good in a few matches every season against big teams and get shown on MOTD for how amazing we are and punching above our weight but when reality kicks in we will be inconsistent and mid table.
We are not a top team any more clearly and won't be for a while in this project.
Better to accept that now than have false hopes of CL footy or anything more any time soon tbh.

Ange will be gone in the summer no matter what happens now in the cups - I can't see us getting over the line in any of them anyway but even if we do Levy will pull the trigger.

Its a right mess at Spurs AGAIN lads.
Fuck it

As much as Bergvall was not the issue, I still don't see why you start him in CAM ahead of Maddison.

No one could actually link defence into attack with an accurate through ball.

Ange hasn't actually started a similar team that beat City since we beat City, which is beyond unfortunate, for me.

No idea why do I even bother waking up at 4am watching this bunch of overpaid people not caring a NLD as Tottenham players. They never fail to disappoint. And now it's 7am. Fuck me.

Honestly we should deduct a month of their wages to charity for every derby lost.

Sack the board. They're inept and dont have the financial muscle to compete.

Look at some of our team. Bissouma - Brighton level ( who were below Spurs at the time ) Sowanky ( Bournemouth who were below Spurs ) Gray ( who was in Championship ) Dragusin ( third choice for us and was from an Italian mid table team ) keeper tonight is an absolute nobody ( reminds me of Espen Bardsen. However he will come good in a while ) Richardlson ( Watford and Everton lol ) Johnson ( from a piss poor Forest team pre Nuno ) Spence ( the same ) Porro ( a wing back now playing as an inverted fuck knows what who was not good enough for Man City ).

No wonder we are at Palaces level now.

Pray tell; where exactly do you expect us to be procuring out players from?

.......Real Madrid's starting XI? :deledoubt:

What a load of bollocks; you're actually slagging off some good players above just cos of where they came from.

I'm getting nostalgic for when we regularly finished 2 or 3rd under Pochettino.

I didn't realise at the time that was as good as it was ever going to get.

This feels apt

Nah, no chance we beat Liverpool at Anfield to get to a final.

And anyway, no chance the board leave it till then. If we lose against Everton, he has to be gone. He should be gone tonight, he should have gone months ago, but here we are.

I just cannot in anyway think the board are going to keep giving him more and more chances to take us further down the league.

The board won't want a league cup final and a relegation battle.
Sorry, to clarify I didn't mean we'll go thru. I meant that he won't be sacked until after the FA Cup 4th round at least. If we've crashed out of both domestic cups, are in the playoffs in the EL or out, and are 10th or below, I expect he'll be sacked after that FA Cup match.

The way things have been going, we'll lose the LC SF, but scrape through to the FA Cup 5th Round, and avoid the EL playoff...so he'll stay.
