Blind hope and self persuasion
No. The effective management of an elite sports operation.

I accept that giving Mason the job might be too much (although I personally think he will be less dogmatic and silly in his tactics) so, instead, give someone like Terzic an 18 month contract which doesn’t place too much of a burden on the club, if we choose to walk away.

This whole conversation is turning into a bit of a purity test. There’s a seductive quality to how Ange presents himself. That our football is so shit, but forces are at work in the footballing heavens, and his style will somehow click for the Cups. So people have convinced themselves that the league doesn’t matter but Ange is the man for the League, FA and Europa trophies. And very specifically that his style of football will somehow translate to knockout football.

It won’t. He’s a dogmatic dinosaur that is basically larping as Pep.

Seriously, you’ve got to have some fucking nerve to accuse others of blind hope and delusion whilst still sticking with Ange.

Gold has, to his credit, been openly critical of both Levy and previous managers in the past.

I think that he, like so many others, have just fallen for Ange's persona and charm.

For all of his flaws as a manager, he seems incredibly skilled at cultivating his Big Ange persona.
Then Ali G and others are incredible twats cause Ange has fuck all charm or charisma...took me about 36 seconds to figure that out.

He's a League 1 level manager and 100% not a nice, interesting, humble fat guy once he drops the act.

Something’s definitely happening behind the scenes.

You’re not seriously telling me that the board are happy with us being 8 points off relegation half way through the season.

Their aim has always to be in the Champions League/European places come the end of the season so they can get the revenue. That’s not happening this season.

I agree. Something feels massively off. It all feels so unLevy like.

Either that or he just doesn’t know what to do so is doing nothing in the hope it gets better…..which is of course still doing something.

Again I'd see these actions as desperate. The short term pain is crazy. I feel it! But we need to have one eye on next season. Going for someone like dyche to just ensure we defend better and grind out some much needed wins could provide short term relief but would set us back years.

It’s fucking drivel.

Professional sport is not bean counting. It’s about capturing and capitalising on moments and individuals.

Where, for example, is Forest's current success placed on their project plan.

Corporate jargon infecting sport.

Its been imported from American Sports, where teams get worse, often on purpose, to then access better young talent through the draft, and free up their wages bill for top free agents.

In football, "painful rebuild" makes no fucking sense at all, because you can buy good players at any time and bring them through as your better players become past it. See Alex Ferguson for details.

Truth is he didn’t really make massive changes in either game.

The performance is what changed
well i disagree. we sat deeper, the fb's didn't bomb forward together as much. the midfield stayed compact.. there were far fewer instances of the entire middle of the pitch looking like an empty green pasture. attacking players didn't dribble unchallenged to our penalty area and take open pot shots.. fuck i'm getting angry just typing that out while thinking about his fat smug face smiling after liverpool and being coy about 'adjustments' and then he scraps it all for tamworth and the scum and then blaming the players while he stares at the ground again. he's an utter embarrassment

Paul O'keefe said he thinks it's to do with a takeover. Don't want to look like a basket case if there are talks with potential investors. Ironic considering what we look like at this moment
