Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Knowing levy there will be some kind of clause where we can sack him for less money if he doesn’t get European competition. So we will wait until that is unattainable and to hell with the bigger picture. It all feels a bit similar to the Mourinho situation. That January he really needed a striker but we didn’t even try to bring anyone of note in.
Yep. Having gone round the houses looking for a reason why he hasnt been sacked i think it will likely be the simplest explanation, something contractual reducing the payout.

I bow to no man in my ENIC-out designs and general dislike of the infernal bald warlock.

But we have actually been one of the more active clubs during January, especially in recent years. Perhaps it plays into Levy’s sexual delight at the prospect of a bargain.
I actually fully agree with you on that. But I'm not one of the people expressing shock now. The people expressing shock now are largely the same people expressing shock at every transfer window (both Jan and summer). Whatever happens, they are 'shocked', even if it's the same thing that has happened before, and/or is exactly what they said would happen. Which or course doesn't make sense.

Why are there so many people on this thread who are 'shocked' / 'amazed' / 'in disbelief' that we've not made signings this month? How many January windows do you have to go through before you understand that this is the norm, we never buy lots of players in January, no one does, no one ever has or ever will, and an injury crisis won't make any difference to that, never has and never will. So it's not 'shocking' at all - a shock is by definition something you weren't expecting - given all the criticism of the owners on this forum, how can the same people be 'shocked' when the owners act exactly as those people say they always act. :/
You're equating shocked with surprised methinks....of course no one's fuckin surprised....but it can still be shocking that we're 15th, heading for relegation, half the team are injured, the rest is on its knees and we've bought no cunt but a young goalie on the 22nd of fuckin January!!

Shadydan Shadydan You love to moan about other fans moaning. Everyone on here has a right to speak their mind when the club is at an all time low. We don’t need little know it alls like you calling people out at every opportunity when we do say how we feel.

When Ange does get sacked we all know what will happen. You’ll disappear under a rock again.

"All the things I've said about ENIC previously" includes the fact I've repeatedly and openly said that up til the last couple of years I was fully onboard with what they were doing, or at least thought they were doing.

And no, I never expected them to see us 15th in the table and not give a single shit, not even them. This is literally uncharted waters, ENIC have always done something when things started looking dire before. Usually a change of manager, granted, but at least something. So far all we're hearing is "determined to back the manager" then crickets.

This is new behaviour from them, and I don't know why you're surprised that people are surprised by it.
To be fair in that case apologies, I wasn't really talking about you, I was talking about those who are 'shocked' by every transfer window we ever have, and will continue to be 'shocked' by every window we will ever have, even if it pans out exactly as they said it would. The outrage may be real, but the 'shock' is fake, it doesn't add up.

Erm they mean much the same thing. A quick Google defines 'shock' as 'a sudden often unpleasant surprise'. 😉

All of the other stuff you are 'shocked' about above isn't what I was talking about - I was talking about people who are 'shocked' by the lack of action in this transfer window. Of course the rest is a shock - but isn't what I was talking about at all.

Watch us rise in the championship

A serious club with genuine ambition somehow finding itself in this lame ass situation...knowing finances aren't an issue in the slightest...would go all out to bring in the likes of Grimaldo/Dimarco, Tomori/Guehi, Douglas/Hjulmand/Zubimendi, Tel/Mbeumo, Rodrygo/Gyokeres. Whatever the fees, whatever the wages.

Obviously they'd bring in a proper head coach too...Inzaghi, Gasperini, Alonso, Zidane...

But yeah, if we were serious we'd never be in a relegation battle to begin with. And we'd never have appointed a guy not even worthy of managing a village book club.

He doesn't disappear, his password just blows out the window.

Tottenham: "So what are the conditions?"

PSG: "Well we'd expect a little money despite the player no longer being part of our manager's plans."

Player's agent: "And you'd need to pay my client a reasonable wage for a player with his pedigree, despite his age and recent injury issues."

Tottenham: "beep beep beep..."

*Daniel Levy has left the chat*.

Ali Gold: "Tottenham tried to bring in Milan Skriniar but PSG and the player's representatives moved the goalposts last minute. Spurs will now shift their focus to the summer window."

Yet another week where we have two must win games more players added to the massive injury list and the manager is expected to cobble together two teams to win these. He has been hung out to dry by this horrific ownership just like all the managers that have gone before him under ENIC and sections of this support base have resorted to calling the manager childish names and blaming him. When will some of you wake up to the fact that the manager is and never has been the problem at this club

Spot on.

All things being equal and sat in let's say 6th or 7th, and with minimal injuries, I think many would be a touch irritated at the lack of activity.

And then there is all you have outlined.

It feels like corporate negligence.

Shouldn't you be heeding your own advice here, I have a right to speak my mind to and you're moaning about me moaning :porrohands:

I think this transfer window could be our worst ever. Currently missing up to 10 senior players and in the trenches yet the club have showed zero urgency in the market. 22 days in and we are no closer to signing any outfield players. We have no interest in paying the premium fees required to sign the likes of RKM, Cunha or Eze. We are just scouting the youth market trying to find cheap talent that won't even offer much short term relief to our current crisis.

This month's transfer window has just totally exposed how bad our club and board are from top to bottom. I know most fans here predicted this were right to say that the club have been doing this for years - using puppets like Ali Gold to leak that we are interested in everyone just to buy time while nothing gets done. But for anyone who naively thought the club might have a good plan and know what they are doing, this transfer window has exposed all that. We are in the trenches and that Conte rant is starting to sound very accurate.
