3 weeks also isn't too bad.
Light and tunnels etc etc
He’s garbage tbh

I'm going Porro, Kulu, Radu. Not certain on the order but it is going to be one of those three.
Radu is already playing through a light ankle injury to begin with.
I don’t think he can defend. I can’t stand himHe really isn't. He's a young player with OTT expectations, having a down year after a major surgery and being overplayed in a squad that was left short.
I'd worry about Davies being thrust straight back into a 2 game week cycle too.
He's very good defending 1v1s and duels when he's fit and in form. still plenty to learn but he's an elite level LB talent IMO
Agree with that, but there’s a lot more to defending than 1vs1 and he doesn’t smell dangerHe's very good defending 1v1s and duels when he's fit and in form. still plenty to learn but he's an elite level LB talent IMO
He’s a lazy defender. He could do it but needs a rocket up his arse. He jogs out to wingers and lets crosses come in too easy and can’t defend anything over his head with balls coming in from our right back area or even deeper. His awareness is non existent of danger around him. His body shape is always wrong in those situations.Agree with that, but there’s a lot more to defending than 1vs1 and he doesn’t smell danger
Could do a Walker, could do a Naughton. I’m not convinced

It’s more of a desire and focus issue when it comes to defending. On the ball he’s too negative and plays too safe but I think that’s down to confidence. His passing does let him down and is far too loose and puts him and his team mates in trouble.
He’ needs pushed and not guaranteed to start and then he’ll realise he needs to improve. He’s had it to easy knowing he’ll start every week when fit.

Definitely and that’s why our recruitment can only be described as criminal!Agree and true for more than just him in this squad. All the way up to Son who knew that Werner would NEVER start over him.
his body shape? do you mean his positioning? ive seen countless times where hes defending against a winger or whatever and he doesnt even get goal side and shut off the goal, this is a really bad problem for a footballer nevermind a defender. this shouldnt even need to be said, this should be a natural response to defending, you get between the goal and the ball so they have to go through you.
Yes his positioning is horrendous and how he shapes his body to defend. seeing him do that at least a few times tells me we shouldn't even bother with him. even if he didnt have this issue, he offers nothing else. he can dribble with a ball 15 yards...whopedeedooo

He's not at all garbage this reminds completely of Jan Vertonghen l, who everyone now worships. After the utter fucking incoherence of the Sherwood years he was reviled. He really isn't. He's a young player with OTT expectations, having a down year after a major surgery and being overplayed in a squad that was left short.
Agreed,I don’t think there’s any coaching from the side at all when talking to him and being on his case will help him. We have mutes on the side that say fuck all. Ange stands for the majority of the game silent and the puppets behind him say and do nothing. We bought a raw talent with a high ceiling... If he's not getting the coaching required to make good on that potential; that's on us.

When I watch Udogie even though he’s raw and young he should still be more enthusiastic and have more of a desire to stop his opponent. I think he’s the type of player that needs someone constantly coaching during the game.
He was plenty enthusiastic and committed to closing down his oponent when he arrived. Cast your mind back to him marking Saka in an early NLD. Is it likely he just lazy and uncommitted all of a sudden, or more likely that the more the very specific demands of a system that places very little emphasis on defensive solidity shape, or even conceding goals is impressed on you ...your priorities change.Agreed,I don’t think there’s any coaching from the side at all when talking to him and being on his case will help him. But Benny and Berba produced. Benny hated football and it was only a job to him but was 100 percent player. Berba was just Berba. Pure class.Possibly. Regardless the bulk of the coaching pertaining to HOW to play the position has to be embedded in training and post-match feedback.
As for exterior/enthusiasm........We've had players like Berba & Benny in the past...... Lesson learned? Judge the job they do rather than the vibes they give off whilst doing it.
Priorities to defending shouldn’t change. Enthusiasm shouldn’t change. That’s on him. The bare minimum is 100%. I see that with Porro and he is fucked but I don’t see Udogie giving 100%. I hope he comes back with a new lease of life and has a strong second half to the season. If not then he needs replaced. He was plenty enthusiastic and committed to closing down his oponent when he arrived. Cast your mind back to him marking Saka in an early NLD. Think about it. This desire to see somethings as inherent dose a massive disservice in particular to the fullbacks Porror and Udogie who are being asked to play the weirdest positional mass up I've ever seen. It's knackered them.
