Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

When I read that, I read deadwood.Do you have any experienced signings in mind or is it just an idea?
For the umpteenth time, we have very very well paid professionals who are meant to be identifying and signing these players. Not fans on a message board. The idea that if I can't identify targets then it's impossible for the club to is frankly ridiculous on so many levels.

We have children in our starting XI and actual no kidding school kids on our bench. We have one point in seven games. At what point do you concede that our squad requires some work and quite urgently?

We are a Premier league football club with the ninth highest revenue in world football, it should not be that hard to sign players.

No - just that the fans solution is always to spend money. It doesn’t matter if we’re 2nd or 15th - the remedy is to spend more.

The underlying causes of our bad form can’t be solved in the January transfer window.
We were woefully underprepared for an extra 50% of games vs least season. This was always going to happen and now it has, the time is now (to spend)

Yeah that was the moment we basically packed it in as a club.

To Dare is Too Hard for Levy from that point onwards.

He had hoped he could fluke his way to a CL and that would have kept the fans satiated for 20 years.

Instead it's just been purgatory since in a big souless stadium with nice beer and shit football.
I hate the stadium, it’s absolutely grim but with some ideas that put football first (stopping exchange and cheap memberships), and some good form I have faith it can be a half decent ground

It's very hard to do business in January

Are you happy with 18 years without any trophy. Come on mate, don’t be that guy.
first, we have won a trophy in that time. In fact there are parallels with this season. Terrible league form with relegation a vague possibility … and a cup win. We’re in every cup still and that’s our hope for the season.

We’ve reached 13 semi finals or better. We lost to Blackburn in a final, United on penalties in a final, CL final because of a handball. All of those could or should have gone our way.

In the 25 years before that we reached 14 semi finals or better .. a very similar rate. The difference is we won 6 of them.

That difference isn’t explained by the ownership.

If you’re not happy at reaching 13/14 semifinals every 25 years then you’re supporting the wrong club. Plenty of other teams for you to support

It's very hard to improve on our First XI
Our problems are deeper than that no?

Again, our current first XI has two teenagers who were meant to be blooded in slower than this. Our current bench has school kids on it.

When it was time to change things up today the only adult Ange could turn to was Sergio Fucking Reguilon.

We have no depth at all. Is it really that hard to improve on that?

Since he start of December we’ve played 11 PL games and won once. Against Southampton.

That is completely unacceptable and the problems are deeper than the players we put on the pitch.

On the plus side, we are giving lots of experience to talented young players.

We do need a new manager. The question is when do we sack this one. Now? Or wait until better options at the end of the season.

I think if we sack him now and results don’t improve then what do we do next? Keep powder dry and see how the cups go. 3 big games coming up and winning two of them should buy him time.

Like I said, if we stick with Ange and this current squad then the team is in big trouble. Injuries will continue, we will struggle to win games. That's why it's up to Levy, keep Ange and bring in at least 3 players this week. Or sack Ange and try and get someone more tactically astute like Benitez till tne end of the season and let him bring some stability and experience to the team. We won't play this current intensive style of football under Benitez, less players will get injured, he will just work hard to get them fit, organised and hard to beat.

I say Benitez as a temporary option due to it being difficult to bring in a long term successor this Jan.

Half the teams in the PL have not made signings and they have high revenue and many have great need too. We have been spending money consistently since the new stadium opened. The fact is it’s hard in January to add players that can make an immediate impact because clubs don’t want to lose players playing well. The evidence of that is that just four teams have spent more than is.

A far bigger concern for me is that we have 7 first team players out injured for weeks if not months. No squad building could overcome that level of deficit. Ange must take responsibility for that and it seems like our medical department is being overhauled too. We can’t be put in that position again.

Again, we’re not the youngest squad in the league Chelsea, Brighton, Bournemouth are all doing better with younger starting XIs. But I think playing youth has been a very good thing - not for this season but for the future.

Ange was a step in the right direction but he is not the future. We need to get the next managerial appointment right and continue to spend well in the summer.

It’s frustrating, but nothing is fixed nowZ

I quite like that idea !

Definitely not the time to get a long term appointment.

No no no. Just no. Stop.

We have the ninth biggest income in world football, we're in a relegation fight, and we're now bringing on school kids in games because there's nobody else.

I don't care what other clubs are or aren't doing. It is not relevant in the slightest. Few Premier league clubs have our resources and fewer still have our dire situation. We act like this every summer and winter transfer window out of choice and I'm fed up of pretending otherwise.

Just look up the amount we’ve spent since the new stadium opened. Compare that to other big teams.

I can’t make you accept the facts but it is a fact that we have spent large amounts of money. There are many complaints, but spending money is not one of them.

Given our situation, there is no excuse.
