Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

To Ange fans who keep bringing the "injuries" excuse and the backing from the board. Read what Ange said back in August (keep this in mind while the discussion is going on 5+ months into the season):

Postecoglou happy with Tottenham additions

To put the key quotes you need to read:

"I think it's been another positive window for us," he said.

"You want to go into every window and come out the other side of it in a stronger sense and I certainly feel that.

"The players we've brought in are already making a short-term impact and even in the longer-term, I think they're going to be really good contributors for us.

"I certainly think we've got a more well-rounded squad to deal with Europe, the extra games and whatever injuries we have. So yeah, I think it's been a real positive window."
"WHATEVER INJURIES" he said that mates....

Will Ange, sorry to say, you don't seem to "deal" with them.

Man City at home last season

This is the most unforgivable in my opinion

I don't wish him bad for the future but he just didn't coach the playing staff when available and rotate properly

To come out and say he doesn't understand why we wouldn't want a local rival to win a league when we got beat by them the week before shows he doesn't have a clue

Doesn't rotate until no option, doesn't play kids unless no option, has 1 tactically and it's been found out

Enjoy the pay off mate

Yep. That'll fix the issues at the club.
Guys who typed words on a message board disappearing for being wrong.

Or; we could look to the people within the club like scouts and DoF who've spent 975m euros since 2019-20 for us to have a squad circling the drain towards the championship. Or we could look at the chairman who needs to sack yet another manager.

But no. AberdeenYid AberdeenYid on his keyboard is where we should look at.

:dohertyshrug:

Dumb fan logic as if the club login to read the comments in the Ange thread lol

There's no way you can convince me over £400m spent in the best part of 4 windows doesn't represent backing this manager. He has had better backing than any manager we've had in the past 25 years I've been a conscious Spurs supporter and he's absolutely fucked it with a complete obliviousness to tactical awareness, inability to rotate to avoid injury crises, failure to acknowledge squad members who can clearly contribute (Spence, Reguillon) until forced into the scenario, the fact people are giving him leeway for the injury crisis that HIS FUCKING TACTICS CAUSED, is laughable to me, we have a carbon copy of the injury crisis we suffered this time last year all the way down to 75% of the injuries being hamstring tears or otherwise muscular injuries and somehow that's supposed to be a mitigating factor for this Aussie fraud? HIS FUCKING TACTICS ARE CAUSING THE INJURY CRISIS. WHY DOES HE DESERVE LEEWAY FOR A PROBLEM HE IS DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTING TO? Make this fucking shit make sense. We are 15th, about to be 16th and losing 6 pointers at home to fellow relegation sides. Never mind a cat, Ange appears to be an Egyptian God such is the state of his infallibility in the face of utter disappointment. There's no chance you can convince me Mason would do a worse job than this, he was a premier league midfielder in his day and no matter how much worse he has been than the predecessor he has taken over from I can't ever remember bending over at home to the absolute worst teams in the league to give them points.

what a dead manager walking said in August doesn't change the reality that we are currently playing a second choice 11 every three days.

We have to sign GOALS and have to do it NOW.

Very valid points.

A couple of paragraphs wouldn't go amiss though.

So for 2-3 months he's been crying about injuries. During this time, he never managed to get a tactic to deal with what he has available. If (his fans claim) when he changes something it is not working. Why is this guy still manager?
Thing is for the past two mo the his had most of our midfield and forwards fit yet still been shite. Only recently have we lost Solanke , Johnson and Werner. The later two were hopeless v Tamworth.

For me, the game that made me realise Ange wasn't up to the job was Newcastle away last season. He admitted to not watching our previous games against Newcastle as it was "irrelevant" and then proceeded to lose by playing tactics perfectly suited to how they'd want us to play.

He's got zero tactical nous, and arrogant to go with it.
His said lots of dumb as things like v Brighton that he didn’t make subs bcos he didn’t think we deserved to win. I mean he literally cost us 3 points by not doing anything bcos of his own egotistical beliefs.

To be blunt I think he's a bit thick.

In the unlikely event that we win anything, it will be in spite of Ange rather than because of anything he's done. The players seem to be playing for each other out of solidarity rather than anything else.

We looked hapless out there against one of the worst teams in the division, and the subs were baffling yet again. Part of that boils down to a depleted, fucked set of players, but fundamentally we look completely disorganised and that's on Ange. He doesn't set us up to manage and control games.

someone who has a full set of badges and has been coaching at a Premier League club for almost 7 years after playing professional football in and around the Premier League for 10 years

played glorified pub league playing in the ASL and never held a meaningful coaching post
To Americanize this, you are making a comparison between a RB coach at an SEC powerhouse who everyone knows is just there to recruit players and has never shown any path upward to a coordinator or a head coaching job versus a decorated champion at D2 or D3 who has never been at a big time school.

The D2 guy may be utterly and transparently out of his depth when given a major job, and sure, maybe that's Ange. But that guy is a real coach and the recruiting ace isn't, and would do much worse still in a head job without enormous support.

If anybody thought Mason were a real coach he'd be in League One by now.

It's possible Ange could relegate us, but I doubt it, he's never shown anything close to that with anything close to a full team. Mason really could though.

Pretty clear Ange is to football what Sir Les Patterson is to culture . I was big Ange in for a very long time, turns out I was

In fact if Barry Humphries wasn’t dead I would think Ange was one of his characters now

I would buy the fucking plane ticket to send him back to Oz if it meant we'd buy some quality forwards who score goals.
We're the 2nd highest scorers in the league. The commentary last night was priceless, they genuinely couldn't understand how the 2nd highest scorers in the league are 15th!
What we need is a system of play....I actually believe that we have a team that can challenge for major honours. If they are actually managed. Solanke doesn't fit Ange's way of playing....but bring in someone who can actually manage a game and we'd see huge improvement.

He can sack whoever he wants but the major fucking problem RIGHT NOW is that we are playing a second string team every 3 fucking days.

The first order of business is to replace all the goals we've lost after Solanke and BJ got crocked. The single most important thing in a relegation fight is GOALS. All our goal scorers are currently injured. Levy needs to focus the fuck on that right fucking now.
You can score as many goals as you like but if you concede even more, you're still going to be in a relegation battle. We scored so much that we still have a positive goal difference. So goals clearly isn't what we're lacking. We're lacking smarts. Ange doesn't have it. We're conceding stupid goals and he's unable to adapt. We need a manager who can create a system that is working at this level.
