God help any bloke at a game who tries to patronise my daughter. She sees insults everywhere, all over the place - even when they don't exist.

Well done for bringing the subject up. Some of us need this kind of reminder on a regular basis.

Thanks. I am quite a shy and anxious person so who knows maybe people pick up on that?

I think it also shows when speaking to other people be it at work, or a night out and the conversation comes around to football. I clearly hang out with the wrong people but everyone always challenges me to a silly question and can't possibly believe I'm actually a football fan. I had it at uni too, I went to a pub to watch the man City game that got us into the CL and this one guy was talking to me and then he said 'oh wow so you are really into your football' Like what does that even mean??

Refined Sugar is your enemy, magnesium is your friend.

You are very welcome.

God help you indeed! 😂

I completely agree. I have a similar connection with my dad re spurs. It’s the main thing we talk about tbh.

Hes getting on and hasn’t been too well for a while now, but seeing his pure joy whenever we (all too rarely) do something great, like reaching the CL final…those are some of the best memories I have with him.

🙂

on another note, anything you may or may not hear about me from these forum miscreants definitely is not true
😂

Yeah, it's so important to me.

Sorry your Dad hasn't been well. I wish him the best.
Yup exactly. My Dad went to the CL final on his own and I ended up crying down the phone to him about what happened. His face when we picked him up from the airport I'll never forget. Am so glad he got to go but at the same time it was awful cos of those cheating bindippers. It was awful for me not having him with me. Argh why does this make me so emotional. Its so silly.

Thank you. That’s very kind.

Sorry, wasn’t trying to make you upset! 🙈😭😂

Football can be very emotive at times, especially when you share a real passion for your club with those closest to you.

Totally understandable.

Know exactly what you mean.

My Dad and I are chalk and Cheese, we had a big falling out when I was a teenager, which is a long, long while ago now. It took a while, but we gradually reconnected and it was purely through our mutual love of this great club.

He lives in Spain now, but we talk on the phone before, during and after the game, never miss a single one.

I'll be honest, the last thing I've wanted to do for weeks now, is talking about Spurs with him, but then I remember there's more to this than just my depression over how we're doing at the moment, so we talk and, funnily enough, we both feel a lot better afterwards. Probably because we've both seen far worse and bring out the gallows humour that we had in the 70's and 90's.

Sometimes family can give you the perspective you can miss on your own.
Sorry you had a falling out but glad you're able to reconnect now. It's the same with my Dad. If I'm not watching with him we text we call and its like a routine think we have.

It's good though you are talking even if it's to do with how shit we are right now. I only remember the 90s but I do remember how bad it was. I remember if we were ever on the tele of watching ceefax my dad would get up and run around the entire length of the house if we scored. It's one of my favourite memories ever.

If you ever need to talk you can 😊

No not at all!!

It definitely is. Yes exactly.

I'm so glad I started posting on here cos I knew people would understand
all seriousness I hope you'll pop in to the match day threads if you aren't at the games. Its a lot of fun especially when the cunt offs get going. For someone like me that's an ocean away its a good way to feel more connected to it all.

We can (well most people except me) be right wankers on here at times

We can (well most people except me) be right wankers on here at times and dish out some brutal banter but I also find it a great place to sound off when I need to and when push comes to shove, most on here are unfailingly kind and supportive.
Yeah I get there will be banter but I don't really care. Without going too deep I've had a lot on my plate these last few years. My mum got diagnosed with dementia and now she's in a home. I tried to end it all after cos I couldn't deal with it. So I'm happy to have found somewhere I can talk to people. Even if it's about our shit football club 😂
