Straight loan makes no sense for us IMO, only really suits us if he comes here and plays so shit we don't wanna sign him anyway. If he's shit hot for us in the remaining 4 months of the season he'll be back off to Bayern and have his pick of clubs to go to, then we're back to square one trying to shore up our wide cover.

If he comes and smashes it and yet goes back to BM; so be it.... We'll still have had that impact on our season (it's not zero benefit)..... and we'd still have the security of being able to give him back if he bombs.

A far better scenario than blowing 60m and being stuck with him if it doesn't click.

And I guess my real point is, I *think* Bayern will only want to do a loan.

We should not let that dissuade us. This is a top player and a great opportunity for us for this season.

I'd be up for it if it were a senior pro who was very likely to hit the ground running for us, but IMO with Tel we will very likely not see much of anything meaningful from him until he's up to speed and properly match fit, which would take weeks. By the time he could be hitting form at the tail end of the season, we've likely paid a sizeable loan fee and covered his circa £100k/week wages for 6 months for the sake of a few good games. AND we'd still have to find his replacement.

No serious side in the premier league is doing a straight loan deal for a teenager.

This would be very good. Guy is a great defender and on the left side, would enable us to genuinely cover VDV when he is out.

Yeah this isn't happening for us. You just know we've gone in hard and we will try and agree a deal, and then once we do, all United Woolwich and Chelsea will do is ask Bayern "what are the numbers?" and then they'll pay it and get the player.
