O'Keefe really has it in for Levy doesn't he. Haha.

I mean, yeah it's still money though isn't it. Whether it's owed or new money, it's still money

I mean Tel, Dibling, Tomori and Gomes would be amazing and give us the depth we need for 4 competitions and this injury spate but I expect 2 in at best.

All of them are squad players though. Tel is relatively unproven. Dibling is a talented boy but very much one for the future. Tomori is decent. I do like Gomes for England as I feel like his strengths are something the national team has been missing, but remains to be seen how he would cope with the Premier League.

I suppose you're never going to make major signings in the January window.

Well, those people are wrong.

The "selling club" thing is an archaic relic of the Carrick/Berbatov era.

It is a different era; but the kind of sales we're talking about should really only be necessary for clubs with shit revenue levels (Villa, Forest) or that have burned a whole fuckload of cash on duds (Chavs).

...........Clubs like us, Arse, Liverpool and defo Man U should be able to keep that from being necessary by selling numerous lesser academy players instead.

Give our fanbase some credit, selling Harry Kane was digested with relative intelligence.

That's a strawman mate (as far as majority opinion is/was).....

The only accepted comfort about Kane was his age............... If you'd have mentioned PSR that summer you'd have been jumped on by a majority of people here and rabidly so by an obvious list of names.

On Tel - it feels like £50m (60m euros) is top end for him - paying a bit of a premium for desperation and who we're buying from.
Agree. While he has loads of potential, he hasn't produced anything to date in his career. I actually want to go the loan route first for 18 months to see if he can adapt to EPL before paying a large outlay.

With how skint Levy is with available money for transfers, we can't afford to bring in the wrong players.

I think 40m euros is a more fair price than 60m. But the club don't have the time to negotiate and need badly to get players in.

On Dibling, really surprised he is fit again. I thought he was out to March? Buoyed at the possibility of also bringing him in now and being able to play straight away.

long term successor to Son i guess is the thought process, but 50 million on a beast of a DM would actually be more useful to us. Scoring isn't much of an issue for us at all.

Bentancur and Bissouma in that role...

We've scored a fair few goals but our attack is littered with inconsistent players so we are as likely to put 3 past a team as to have a 0.2 xG.

Johnson, Son, Werner are inconsistent and/or generally poor.
Richy has one leg. Solanke and Odobert are crocked. Moore is 17.

We desperately need attacking reinforcements.

Dibling sounds like loan back probably. Tel even if it’s a loan and someone like Tomori who can cover left centre back are the bodies we need right now while things are a bit shit.

Would be great squad building even if it's two in now and two in the summer.

Tel, Dibling, Moore, Odobert... all of a sudden you actually have threat from wide areas.

Squad players?

You are either massively underrating those names or massively overrating our current squad. Probably both.

I'm not sure that is wholly true

Carrick said he wanted a move to ManU (only 12 months or so after we rescued him from Wham bench) so we accepted the situation and sold him for £17m and invested £11m in Berbatov

Sadly Berbatov was tapped up by ManU and we couldn't persuade him to stay so we sold him for £30m ..... big problem was sourcing a replacement.

But I think its probably more accurate to call it 'Player trading' rather than 'selling club' as we did actually increase the quality of our overall squad via these sales as we did re-invest in the squad and did reasonably well out of it ....... although I'd have loved to have seen Carrick and Berbatov play in the same Spurs side

It’s our level mate at the moment.

At least we will have cover for Solanke and Richy, a wide player that can actually attack the full back and create space, a proper genuine back up for Van Der Ven and a midfielder who is top quality at passing.

Yeah, I agree we desperately need more attacking options, and I do also think that a gigantic problem of our attack is our midfield. We don't have a consistently dominant presence in midfield so our defense is consistently under too much pressure, and offensively they just aren't getting the support and service to be successful.

+ Kinsky

All in Jan? You're setting yourself up for disappointment mate......

FWIW; CB isn't urgent with VDV & Davies back.
