Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yes but when he starts he gets more minutes. You have been shown his stats per minute but for some obscure reason you want to ignore them.

If you don't want to believe the player is any good that's completely up to you mate but why bother pretending you want to have a conversation about it?

It's not a case of wanting to believe in Tel or not wanting to believe in Tel from my end.

I'm not pretending that I want to have a conversation about it either.

I understand that this is a forum where everyone is free to express an opinion on the matters at hand.

I'm not being disagreeable or contrary on these matters.

The stats that matter are the goals to games as far as I am concerned.

They are the reason I will stick up for Brennan if he is torn down.

Minutes in isolation is bending the truth. If Tel is coming off the bench to score his 1 goal every 5 games then if anything I would suggest we can expect less output from him when he actually starts games in terms of goals to games.

None of us will know of course until he actually plays for Spurs.

My other beef with this deal is that Tel, or those representing him, have already publicly stated that Spurs would be his 4th or 5th choice Premier League destination.

This gives Tel an alibi for failure before he even plays in my opinion.

It's another desperate bluff from Levy because he failed to get Neto to Spurs.

Not reading all that

My point is Spurs need 3 goals to get a draw in recent weeks so; a 1 goal every 5 games teenage winger is not really what is needed at the moment in my opinion.
You understand that when you play just 10 mins, you have less opportunities to score than by playing 90 mins. Therefore the correct stat is not goals per game but goals per 90 mins.
But, I'm afraid that you already know that.

I feel that the goals to games is a better measure.

Personal preference if you like.

Playing against tired legs is easier.

Tel will (hopefully) be a case of adding to our team such as it becomes more than the sum of its parts. I can see that happening this way:

It allows us to play Kulu in the middle, where he's shown to be pretty key to unlocking our creativity

He seems to be adept at dribbling/creativity on the wing, which we lack. I hope he can do that from the right, since we're loaded on the left (relatively). That will allow Solanke/Richy to score more.

How is his tracking back? If he's better than Brennan, then we'll stop a huge issue we've had defensively (down the right flank vulnerability to being scored).

Finally, if he improves our possession in the final third through his greater technical ability, it will reduce our vulnerability to counter attacks in Ange's system.

All a lot of ifs, but you can see how that can work in domino fashion.

Every time someone posts an opinion about a prospective signing that isn't "this guy is going to be fucking brilliant" it will always get slammed. Even when we signed Werner people were like "Hmm, he's a bit rubbish really" they basically just got called idiots.

And I say that as someone who has really liked the small amount I saw from Tel and who is surprised and pleased we did manage to get him.

I’ll hold my hand up and say I knew nothing about Tel before last week. I have no idea what, if any, impact he will have with us. His stats seem promising but, again, until we see him in the shirt, on the pitch, we won’t know how he will fit in to the team and our style of play. For now, we needed new blood, he is our player, and will have my full support. There is still much to play for this season, starting with the second leg against Liverpool. COYS

Loads of people thought Werner would be a bit rubbish and weren't slammed for it.

Plenty of people have asked questions about Tel being younger and less established than what we need. And they weren't slammed for it.

That's very different to quotes bullshit goals per game stats when a player has come off the bench and good-natured people have taken their time to share goals per minute stats but you still refuse to even entertain anything but your own view.
