Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Every time someone posts an opinion about a prospective signing that isn't "this guy is going to be fucking brilliant" it will always get slammed. Even when we signed Werner people were like "Hmm, he's a bit rubbish really" they basically just got called idiots.

And I say that as someone who has really liked the small amount I saw from Tel and who is surprised and pleased we did manage to get him.
I want Tel to do well and I want the best for THFC.

I just see this loan signing as exactly that.

A loan signing with the possibility of jam tomorrow.

I see nothing to suggest that the loan will be the Hollywood prediction being made by the usual suspects.

I see a loan signing that has only happened because the chairman went for Werner and Odebert; neither of which have worked so now this has become necessary.

The fact that THFC have been initially turned down, in an embarrassing manner, by this player, just adds insult to injury.

I accept that Tel doing well will be mutually beneficial to both Tel and Spurs but I am not excited by this signing or confident that it will work out in any way for Spurs.

Loads of people thought Werner would be a bit rubbish and weren't slammed for it.

Plenty of people have asked questions about Tel being younger and less established than what we need. And they weren't slammed for it.

That's very different to quotes bullshit goals per game stats when a player has come off the bench and good-natured people have taken their time to share goals per minute stats but you still refuse to even entertain anything but your own view.

Goals per minute is an incredibly flawed stat. If a player has very few minutes and is regularly used as an impact sub etc then his goal per minute can often be very good. Coming off the bench regularly (esp in the Bundesliga for Bayern) vs tired legs = I would expect excellent goal per minute stats compared to players who play 90 minutes regularly.

I expect Tel to do well, he's a shit load more talented than some of the crap we have up there. I don't know how many he will score - we'll see.

Goals per game is also flawed but the poster in question had way more than just goals per minute shared with him if he was interested.

It's only going to be good if he actually makes an impact as an impact sub.

Yeah I think that's reasonable and tbh I wasn't saying your take on him isn't reasonable.

Clery did another really good video.

King of the content makers IMO.

This kids a good player. I'm not sure why anyone is doubtful. He's better than anything we have bar Prime Son. I think partly it's the Bayern letting him go thing, but from what I read there are wage issues at Bayern and they are backing on upping 'their own' in Musisla to keep him away from City. Kanes on big wedge as is Kimmich, Bayern though people would help by falling for their junk in Sane and Ganbry ( I was scared we would) but we have done much better. I hope we can keep him.

He is genuinely adding an elite veneer we desperately need to our front options we need another idealy and we are cooking. Mbeumo, Oshimen, Bakayoko. This is the level not Werner and Johnson.

He’s got a lot of talent but nothing’s guaranteed in the PL. He’s gonna have to graft and improve. I am genuinely fascinated how Ange deploys him, cos the low block issue in the video is something I worried about too.

This whole thing about dribbling against a low block… it’s a bit overblown to me.

Sure, if you can beat a player 1v1 it draws another to the ball but you are still only moving 2 players. We have a much bigger issue with the passing ability to ping it cross field side to side in the final 3rd and if you can do that well then you are moving their entire low block side to side.

He will be fine . Johnson is playing EPL football to varying degrees of success. Life is risk. But his profile technical ability and speed make him nailed on. He will need time to adapt but the Irish bloke from 442 pointed out how savy his movement is. I am very confident we have improved the hardest part of pitch, in the hardest window. I hate our owners but credit where it's due.

On the low block you can 100% coach your way round it. We struggle when we just go side to side in front of it. Tel might help with this as his mix tape shows him flighting flat accurate crosses to Kane for a few goals. Going longer to a Solanke or Richarlison is the perfect way to kill bus parkers.

Also, we’re starting to become better at attacking set pieces. If we can refine that and have someone like Tel who can create separation like Sonny used to (🥹) and just twat it in from the edge of the box, then the whole game changes.

I love this narrative that the media continue with, that he turned us down , yet is AT our club...

Didn't he, by definition 'turn down' or reject every other club he isn't at right now? Why aren't THEY getting stick?

We are the only club who could be mocked for actually getting a player in, simply because he evaluated his options before committing...

Ha ha, silly Spurs... He turned us down!
Even though he's our player now...
How stupid must we feel??

Imagine how he feels!!

He got Jedi mind tricked by Ange The Sorcerer.

He must be looking in the mirror thinking, “how did I end up here?”
